I mixed vegan mayo with minced onion, lots of pickle relish, chopped celery then added a block of extra firm tofu I squeezed the water out of and crumbled with my hands. I add black salt at serving as I find the taste goes away if it sits. I never liked egg salad, but I've had it, and this was how I remember it, but better with tofuHow did you make it?
I'll be having leftover American chop suey and maybe a slice of homemade bread with vegan butter.
I think it's the pasta and ground beef, as opposed to rice and veggies for typical chop suey. Some people call American chop suey "goulash. " American chop suey, at least my version, is made with diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, onions, garlic, Italian seasoning, pepper, a pinch of salt, plant protein and pasta (I used rotini this time, but I usually use elbow macaroni).what makes it American as opposed to just chop suey?

You are welcome. I like that name, Macaroni Surprise, lol! And it is delicious. I am having it again tonight.oh wow, thanks for the clarification, I have never heard it called that - I am familiar with the actual meal and am trying to think what we call it here, I would call it delicious and a great pasta meal - maybe homemade hamburger helper meal? I asked my honey and he said he used to call it Macaroni Surprise when he made it for his kids

I grew up with that as goulash, and chop suey was chow mein with rice instead of crispy noodlesI think it's the pasta and ground beef, as opposed to rice and veggies for typical chop suey.
