I'm really excited about this in some ways... and in others, a little depressed...

Solar System’s First Interstellar Visitor Dazzles Scientists

It excites me that we have a real, sizeable object passing through which is not native to our star system. I say "sizeable" because I remember reading that there was some evidence that very high-speed meteoroids are suspected of being from interstellar space: as with Oumuamua, their high speed is evidence that they came from beyond the Oort cloud or Kuiper belt.

The depressing part is that if interstellar space really has quite a bit of this-and-that flying around, interstellar space travel will be even more hazardous than previously thought... assuming it would have even been possible with either slower-than-light generation ships (the descendants of the original crew reaching the destination) or with some theoretical faster-than-light propulsion system.
