Supper/Dinner Time! What's on the menu ?

@Raven @jalan That doesn't surprise me. I've heard/read that Covid often affects someone's sense of smell- and our sense of smell supposedly can over-ride what we actually taste. For example, if you smelled a pear while eating an apple, the apple would taste like a pear. (I think I tried something like this once, but it didn't work. I might have gotten a few strange looks though.... and besides, how would a pear fit under one's nose while they were taking a bite out of an apple?... Maybe they took a bite from the apple, and then immediately sniffed the pear while they were chewing?.... I forget exactly what I did, but I'm definitely over-thinking this).

I am roasting zucchini, mini tomatoes, peppers, onion, garlic and spices in the toaster oven thing (I love the timer that is stops cooking). Later I am making quinoa and cooling it and adding chickpeas and some dressing I will make up for a salad. My husband will end up heating it up no doubt, but it will still be ok.

Hmm, perhaps just a slice of each would work!

because my noodley soup was so huge yesterday I wasn't very hungry for dinner so sliced up a bell pepper and poured some potato chips in a bowl and scooped up hummus w/hot sauce - my honey had leftover cappelini/sauce

^ The pizza was delicious although I didn't finish it all. Shyvas took the leftovers to feed the birds.

It just occurred to me that I like gin and tonic after having Covid. I used to hate the taste of tonic water.

(Your post only partially quoted- emphasis mine) I can delete this question and start another thread, if anyone wishes- but... what does cilantro taste like to those of you who like it? It tastes like soap to me. I've substituted fresh parsley along with lime or lemon juice in recipes because I know I won't like the cilantro- and I have liked that substitution- but I'd like to know if anything else would make the dish taste right to me. I know coriander leaf is another name for cilantro. I've heard cilantro's taste described as "fresh", "pungent", and "citrusy" (which is why I was inspired to substitute lemon or lime juice).

I dunno... maybe some folks like the soapy taste?...
I hate cilantro soooo much! No one in my family, or anyone I knew every used it, and as an adult I thought some restaurants had a dishwasher problem! It was went my coworker talked about how well she was growing it and brought some in that I realized that was the soap.
My son likes it and can only describe it as 'fresh' and 'bright'.
I do like the seed, coriander. That I taste as fresh and lemony. Do you like coriander?

I've been having oatmeal w/ flax, berries, & lionsmane mushroom powder for breakfast at work. Couldn't add more without it being too much

I made the millet & brown rice ramen noodles with spinach, onions, and chickpeas. I left it plain and added lemon pepper at serving

I've used coriander seed, and I'm okay with it, but I got ground coriander seed (McCormic's, I think- that brand of spices that is common in grocery stores) and it didn't seem to have much flavor at all. Ground spices tend to go flat quickly if they're ground; I'll have to try the whole seed. I even have a little mortar-and-pestle spice grinding bowl to grind it fresh. But then again, I vaguely remember making an Indian dish (from one of Anna Thomas' "Vegetarian Epicure" books) that called for whole coriander seed, and the coriander didn't have much flavor.

last night we had:
Salad - cucumber, tomatoes, green onions, olives, lime juice, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder
Potatoes - boiled with malt vinegar, nutritional yeast, salt, pepper
Yves chkn burger - hummus on the bun, slice of tomato, slices of cucumber, oelek hot sauce

I decided to have the last of my Chinese food for lunch, so for dinner, I think I will try the Bistro's soy curls bacon recipe and toss it with a pasta dish that is yet to be determined. :D There will be peas and broccoli, but I need to work on a sauce.

Clive’s creamy mushroom pie with a baked potato plus Flora and roast parsnips and carrots.

Raspberry Swedish glace with OMV Bakewell cherry cookies.

I’m going to miss the food here. So much choice including fresh vegetables and so many other dishes and ingredients.

I have pinto beans, millet, onion and crushed up chipotle snacky things I got, and made patties. They're in the oven now.
I wish I had potatoes to make oven fries. I have Cruciferous salad mix to have along side

Just checked them and realized I forgot vwg :fp:. Mushy. Turned up the oven to 400F , hope for the best

Interesting. I’ve also noticed that awhile after I’ve stopped certain meds my tastes change a little
