I somewhat agree, but it can create confusion at times. For example there was a study supposedly showing that 'Homophobes are more like to be turned on by gay porn', but in the study they defined 'homophobe' as a measure of fear, anxiety or uncomfortability around gay people, not whether they held anti-gay beliefs or attitudes. Many people just read the headline and interpreted it the wrong way.
