What's in Your Garden? (2013 edition)

I'm beginning to think I should consider aquaculture. Maybe a nice, soggy rice paddy in my community garden plot or front yard?....
My marigold seedlings are really taking off. I planted some summer savory too; it's such a small-growing herb that I planted it in a container and I'll try to bring it inside this fall. I've grown it before- it's an attractive herb.

...bees. Bees are what are in my garden. I have let my garden grow wild with the grass above knee height (hip height in some places). The insects love it xxx

I saw a bald faced hornet (I think) kill and eat a honeybee yesterday. Its a brutal world out there. In the garden.
Also i ripped up most of the lettuce that we couldn't possibly eat and was bolting anyway to make room for the tat tsoi and parsley and basil that I seeded underneath. This system is working well for me this year. Harvested all the big tat tsoi too, and today harvested a huge bunch of kale. Greens greens greens greens greens...

Things are finally starting to happen. Most of the plants I had started early in pots hadn't done so well, but I think the okra is finally growing. The bush acorn squash I started directly in the ground is growing. The cherry tomato has doubled its size since I moved it from its pot to the open ground- and 3 or 4 small volunteer tomato plants have started growing! If they do well, considering how late they started, I'll take cuttings and try to overwinter them inside.

Today I harvested four jalapeños, two banana peppers, and a small handful of grape tomatoes:

Me too! Your garden sounds great, when I have my own I hope to seed some wild flowers and then let it do it's own thing, at least for part of the garden (also want some lawn to sit on and somewhere to grow vegetables and cutting flowers).
I have picked two massive bunches of sweet peas
My house smells delicious. Our one remaining sunflower has a head on it, and I can see some yellow. One other seems to have somehow started growing in with the lavender, which is cool, it's only about a foot long so I don't know if it'll have time to grow properly. I think a bird may have dropped a seed there.

I'm growing some sort of squash or cucumber and a few tomato plants out of the compost bin.
It's kind of like the "mystery door" on game shows. Will they blossom and set fruit before winter? What sort of plant is the squash/cucumber? Will turning over the compost bin kill them?

There's a potato plant right at the bottom of the pile. No way I'm gonna get to that guy.
I've never had a volunteer squash that bore mature fruit. But I always let them go, just in case. 
I harvested some zucchini today. They're so exciting right now, but I can already see the way the wind is blowing... and beans are almost ready to harvest!

I think my tomato plants maybe have a mosaic virus.
Ok, maybe it's just heat stress, idk. I have a zillion little tomatoes on Juliette, and four on Brandywine. Unless Mr Stripey gets his act together, and soon, I may not get any fruit from him. (I've had a few flowers but no fruit.)

Got some monster zucchini from the garden
Picking 5-10 big tomatoes a day now, my most favorite.

LuvOurMother, can I ask if there's a particular reason you let your zucchini's get so big? Do you do something particular with them?

They were hiding and we didn't see them until they were huge. Just been grilling them, the big fat pieces take on a nice texture and when marinated a little beforehand get good flavor too.
