US Manhunt for Christopher Dorner

I'm wondering why they censored so much of what he wrote. I understand blocking out the names because of security concerns. But, the rest they left out sounded almost like a suicide note, where he was saying goodbye to family and friends, and telling them how he felt them. Also his feelings/thoughts about some political and celebrity personalities and other trivial things. Were they afraid those things would make him sound too human and garner some compassion for him?

A mother and daughter newspaper delivery team who were mistakenly shot by Los Angeles police hunting for a fugitive former cop will get a new pickup truck courtesy of the department.

LAPD Cmdr. Andrew Smith says the department's Chief Charlie Beck met with the women in their Torrance home Saturday to apologize and tell them he had arranged for someone to donate a new pickup truck.

The story closes with this:

Dorner has vowed to avenge his firing from the department, which he wrote in an online manifesto was retaliation for reporting officer violence.

I think someone at ABC isn't fond of shooting an innocent civilian twice in the back.

It's kind of sad that the only thing that seems to have been protecting the women as the officers fired sixty rounds at the vehicle are the officer's lack of shooting ability.

If you look like Christopher Dorner, stay inside as much as possible.

I don't understand the sympathy for Dorner. If he had any integrity at all he would turn himself in before anyone else gets shot.

Of course, if he had any integrity he never would have gone on his own rampage. His behavior casts enough doubt on his honesty that I don't believe his story about being a whistleblower. Everyone hates the LAPD with such vehemence a person could claim the LAPD are selling nukes to Iran and people would believe it.

I agree 100%.

I'm pretty close to where it's happening and have family who lives up there.

According to the police scanner, he tied up some women and stole their car (the husband of one of the women said he didn't hurt them, just wanted their car.). He was driving down the mountain at a high rate of speed and crashed. They found a sniper rifle left in the car. They chased/tracked him to a cabin partially down the mountain and where there has been a standoff with on and off shooting.

Right now they are tearing apart the house, there has been no more gunfire and they say they noticed some blood on a wall inside. Also the house is on fire.

One of the things that really sucks about this is, if his allegations of abusive cops are true, it's really a shame that they are safe and sound in hiding, while their fellow officers have to deal with the problem and are paying for it with their lives.
I know a sane person wouldn't kill people because they are upset, but it wouldn't be the first time that someone who has basically been bullied, hits a breaking point and either kills themselves or other people first and then themselves.

I hold all bullies at least partially responsible for any outcomes because of their behavior.

Yes - one of the two deputies he shot earlier today didn't make it to the hospital alive.

It sounds as though Dorner set fire to the cabin and shot himself.

According to a lower-third, Mr. Dorner tried to escape out a backdoor of the burning cabin, but they pushed him back inside.

Burning Chris Dorner alive was the plan:

[...]

Over the course of the next hour, I listened as the sheriffs carefully managed the fire, ensuring that it burned the cabin thoroughly. Dorner, a former member of the LAPD who had accused his ex-colleagues of abuse and racism in a lengthy, detailed manifesto, was inside. The cops seemed to have little interest in taking him alive.

“Burn that ******* house down!” shouted a deputy through a scanner transmission inadvertently broadcast on the Los Angeles local news channel, KCAL 9. “******* burn this ************!” another cop could be heard exclaiming.

While live ammo exploded inside the cabin, the deputies pondered whether the basement would burn as well – they wanted to know if its ceiling was made of wood or concrete. They assumed Dorner was hiding there, and apparently wanted to ensure that he would be burned to a crisp. “Because the fire is contained, I’m gonna let that heat burn through the basement,” a deputy declared.
