Killed Leeds teacher Ann Maguire was 'shining light'

A school teacher was stabbed to death in school, and a 15year old pupil has been charged with her murder.

A truly awful thing to have happened and I feel for the family involved.

I'm pretty sure this is also the first time a school teacher has been murdered within a school in the UK.

There aren't many details made public about what exactly happened, so one can only speculate at this time ...

In my experience though (from another country ...), there are many children who don't belong in traditional schools. Not everyone is suited for hours and hours of deep concentration. Some children also struggle with mental issues, and may not always be getting appropriate treatment. And/or their home environments are unsuitable. Meanwhile, schools are used as containment areas for these problems, thereby keeping these children "off the streets" for some amount of time every day, but also posing a problem to the other children and their teachers.
