Christmas Countdown - 2016

Even though this last year I declared myself atheist, I still put up the Christmas decorations last weekend. :) Mine aren't that worth sharing photos of. Many of the ornaments I have are handmade either by my Grandma or my partner. I cherish hanging them.

And here I am, lover of all things Christmas and I have no decorations up...well except for 2-3 things that I never removed from last Christmas. I just don't know what to do that will be safe from the monster cats. :(

It's cheesy, but there's something about the season that just stirs up the best, warmest, loving feelings for me. And everything Moll mentioned. Plus The peace on earth, love for your fellow man, giving of ourselves to others, trying to spread a little cheer, family...I get that a lot of it is fantasy but it's the one time of the year that a lot of people buy into it. I like to hold onto it as long as I can.

I do wish people could be nice all year long. Most people are, I believe. Christmas wouldn't be so special if we did it big all year, though. It's the fact that it's only a few weeks out of the year where it gets special attention that makes me be able to appreciate it so much...something to look forward to.

So here's a very touching Christmas ad. So sweet.
Is this the best Christmas ad of the year? I’d say so. Drop everything and just watch

I am with you. I fuss about the commercialism and craziness of the gift-giving, but I really do enjoy the spirit of the season and the decorations and the music and the food and the getting together with friends and family. I feel fortunate that I can enjoy it as much as I do.

Warning NSFW...some bad words.
I love Will Ferrell.

DH and I are pretty sick. Tonight, though, the annual neighborhood holiday decoration judging commences. Since we have either won or received "honorable mention" (because supposedly you can't win THREE years in a row ) we feel some pressure to finish up outside today. So I'm going to pull up by big girl long underwear and get out there and supervise.

eta: There are many categories - we've always done well in the "Best Tree" competition.

Here are a couple pictures of my Christmas tree: I have purchased the calendars for the kids like I do every year. I still need to get their gift cards.

The lighting is pretty terrible in my apartment too!

Got some Christmas presents today. :) our manager left a big bag of presents on each of our desks! I don't know what they are yet but isn't that just so kind!?
