Literature What are you currently reading?

Read Stacey Abrams new book "Coded Justice." This is another in the Avery Keene series. AI is everywhere currently and this thriller delves into several issues. A tech company has developed a very sophisticated AI system for health care and medication distribution. It is extremely invasive into patient privacy and the AI can make decisions. Avery and her team are called in by the CEO to do an internal investigation of an accident before the company goes public. It gets really technical at times and was a bit of a hard go in the middle. Gets really scary with shades of HAL as you get into it. Good book about the possibilities and dangers of AI.

Just finished "The Grey Wolf" by Louise Penny. This is an Inspector Gamache thriller about domestic terrorist targeting the water supply in Montreal. I really like this series and this one does not disappoint. It ends on a cliffhanger and I am now going to see if a new one is out yet. This one was published last year so maybe not. Good read!
Looked at library online and reserved the next book which is called "The Black Wolf."

The girls in the garden was ok, too much drama with not much pay off.
I was excited for this one. I am starting it tomorrow. The Troop.
A bit too gross and animal harm. I should have read reviews.

Next, another McFadden. The crash.

I am reading two books - another Heather Webber - In the Middle of Hickory Lane - I picked it up from the library as it is only available as audio at my online libraries - so I read some while in the bathroom and listen to some when I fall asleep at night - I am also reading The Grey Wolf and it is good as Louise Penny's always are - I love all the cultural references as much of what she writes is based on real places and one in this book is a monastery, in Quebec, and it became famous for many things, one of which is the monks' Gregorian chants.

Just finished "The Final Twist" by Jeffrey Deaver. This is another in the Colter Shaw series (Tracker TV show). It was a really good mystery with lots of conspiracies and corruption. The TV show is pretty close on most of the background stuff. I will read more in the series.

I read a sci-fi/dystopian novel called "The Last Day" by Andrew Hunter Murray. He is a well-known British writer and comedian and this is his debut novel. A catastrophic event in space causes the Earth to stop rotating. It takes a few years, called the Slow, then it stops entirely. Chaos happens of course and Britain is the last place on Earth for survivors. Really good book! Political intrigue, murder and mayhem and a twist at the end.

I read this yesterday and enjoyed it - interesting premise for sure!!!

I have some Ellery Adams books that I am reading, which I thought someone here recommended however I can't find a reference to her - it reminds me of Murder Club as it is 4 ladies in a small town solving murders etc also - seems there are quite a few in the series.

Just finished "Hideaway" by Nora Roberts. It was a good fast read about a Hollywood dynasty family. It spanned several years in the life of Caitlyn Sullivan, a woman who was kidnapped at 10 years old by her narcissistic mother and her lover. The consequences of this event follow her and her family throughout her life. Of course there is romance! I am enjoying Ms Roberts books very much!
