Today I read Heather Graham's newest novel, "The Murder Machine." It was really good and I read the whole book this afternoon. It's a murder mystery and the murder weapon is AI. Pretty scary stuff!

DEFINITELY scary. I tend to think AI's threat can be controlled so long as we limit what it can cause to happen off-line in the real world, but this novel probably involves a scarily plausible scenario.

Well it's not sci-fi but a contemporary FBI manhunt so it isn't AI run amok. A good exciting story!

This afternoon I read Anne Tyler's new book called "Three Days in June." I picked it up in the new books section because I saw her on TV yesterday morning. I had never read any of her books before, I don't think. This was a short easy to read family drama centering around a wedding. Told in first person by Gail, the mother of the bride. It was at times funny and other times terribly sad. An emotional touches the heart novel. I will find more of this author's books.
Forgot to mention, there's a cat!

read another of Brynne Weaver, the second in the series - Leather & Lark - again lots and lots of trigger warnings - so bizarre and yet enjoyed it very much

currently reading Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune - bit of a tough go about someone who finds themselves dead and meets a ferryman

so cool, I was able to jump the Hold line and was given the 3rd in the Brynne Weaver series and just started it - Scythe & Sparrow

Under the Whispering Door turned out to be enjoyable after all.

I read "Death of a Smuggler" by M.C. Beaton today. It is the latest in a series featuring a constable in a small Scottish village. It was a quick enjoyable read. A murder mystery linked to a smuggling ring. I liked the characters who spoke in Scottish accents which I related to Scotty on Star Trek. :) I will read more of this series when I run across them.

cool an author I used to read and forgot about - so I put a hold on Death of a Smuggler and downloaded the first book of the series so I can start from the beginning again - thank you for reminding me

I am just starting another Susan Mallery "For the Love of Summer" after finishing Scythe and Sparrow which was also very good but strange.

I just finished "The Last Murder at the End of the World" by Stuart Turton. This is a very weird murder mystery/dystopian sci-fi novel that has a lot of strange things going on. LOL The description on the cover says "Station Eleven meets The Mist" . There is AI and a killer fog and murder. It's good but different. I may read another one of this author's books. His imagination is pretty wild!

Right, I read that a little bit back and it was so strange.

I just finished "Source Code My Beginnings" by Bill Gates. We all know the story of how Gates and Allen founded Microsoft back in 1975. This memoir is about Gates early years, growing up and being a part of the dawn of the computer age. It is a really fascinating read! It will appeal to all my fellow computer geeks as there is a lot of computer jargon and the history of the personal computer is so interesting. I really liked the book.
