Arguments used to promote this of 1 mp are
1. imho a pr stunt to draw attention to this mp for popularity easy point scoring
2. arguments used are this will send message and example out there to countries that include dogmeat and catmeat in their diets
3. arguments used include that the UK has HIGH WELFARE STANDARDS so a leader in animal treatment..with no reference to how many millions are slaughtered every day
4. arguments that these are PET animals with special relationships with humans dogs have given their lives (as if they willingly knew they were doing so is irrelevant apparently) to save human lives so we owe dogs a special status
my views ? this is a hypocritical petition speciesist and racist in nature and a backwards step that would encourage the already RIFE pet speciesist preference in the public.
ps it is currently NOT illegal to eat dog or cat meat in the uk.
