The unpopular or otherwise, question thread.

Is it an acceptable reason for wanting to get a new job that I've been with the same company for more than a decade and it's awkward when someone with whom I had interactions at some point in time now runs into me and goes "hi I.S., how are you?" and I can't always immediately remember their names? 🤔

I agree about names being given in weird ways. I have my own question, why are we not using maternal lineage names? There is a whole side of all our relations that we are not connected by name with, for not wanting mothers to pass on a name of inheritance. I don't think that is justified, I did take on a maternal lineage name myself, based on a maternal ancestor, that is, going back through mothers, in this case five mothers ago.

@FredVegrox Lately I've been seriously thinking about changing my middle name to my mother's maiden surname. This could conceivably get complicated, depending on how far back I want to go-or even COULD go: Alex Haley did a great job of tracing his ancestry in "Roots", but eventually I'd get to a point where I couldn't go back any further. But since both my mother and maternal grandmother were okay with their last name, I'd be okay with using it.

What a cool idea.
