Health Issues The Everything Covid 19 Thread

I'll make it really simple-they support trump.
Oh course there are those who profit from his policies, but I don't really call such people smart as much as sociopathic
What is it about Trump that you dislike so much?
I never hear anything about Canada from you?
I'll start posting a lot about Canada once the election starts up. Mostly the biggest thing going on in Canada right now is the relations with China, which you're right, deserves a lot more attention than I give it.

Covid-19 deaths pass 3 Million worldwide.

This is such sad and worrying news and I believe that this figure does not reflect the real number.

The US, India and Brazil - the countries with the most recorded infections - have accounted for more than a million deaths between them, according to Johns Hopkins University.

Canada has also reported a recent rise, registering more cases per million than the US over the last week - the first time this has happened since the pandemic began.

Papua New Guinea has also been highlighted as a cause for concern. The World Health Organization head, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, noted "the potential for a much larger epidemic" in the Pacific nation following a sharp increase in cases.

However, official figures worldwide may not fully reflect the true number in many countries.

our province has once again gone into almost a complete lockdown - to the point now that police have the right to stop you and ask where you are going and why - cases are climbing rapidly and ICUs are full - we have appointments booked for the 26th for either the P or the M but the second shot won't be until sometime in August

At least the police are doing their job. Over here we are in a partial lockdown but people are still socialising and going out in the middle of the night despite the curfew.

I know quite a few people who are received the jab in BC and it was free of charge. My friend has friends that live in Montreal and they were charged for having the Covid vaccine. Would you know why some people in Canada have to pay for it?

I also have to wait 12 weeks before getting my 2 nd (Vaxzevria) jab i.e. 1 st June and I can't wait.

The promise was that no Canadians would have to pay for the shot. So if someone did pay for it, they were scammed.

They aren't Canadian citizens. However, I wouldn't have thought it would matter as they work and live in Montreal.

They aren't Canadian.
Well that says it all. It would be the same if I went south of the border seeking a shot. I would expect to pay.

Oh also, if they live in Canada, they would have to have some sort of medical insurance. Most likely provided through their country or employer. It's like if I went to the USA for work. It is up to me to make sure I have adequate medical coverage.

The province has backed off from giving police these powers due to a huge outcry - they can still go after people who are obviously breaking the rules but random traffic stops are now not allowed.

As @Veganite says, vaccines are frees to eligible Canadians and in Quebec they are even discussing giving people paid time off to get the vaccine.

Eligible includes non-Canadians as long as they are in the relevant age groups etc. LINK

They do live and work in Montreal. He has his own company and she's employed.

They are both in their 40's and apparently they were charged when they received their jabs. They keep bashing the Canadian health system and don't seem to like it there.:(

at the point they received the vaccine they may not have been in a priority group and so therefore paid to jump the line? our health system may not be the very very best in the world and yet it is better than most - maybe they would prefer to move south of the border...?

sorry if that sounds snarky, I really don't have a lot of patience with people who complain about our health care system, I personally do not use it as I don't go to doctors and, thankfully, have not been ill or had an accident however I know that it is there if I need it and I know many people that would be dead or impoverished if not for it, including my step-children and my honey's ex-wife, my dad (99) and so on...........

That may well be the reason.

No worries as I always try and query my friend about how they are settling down in Quebec. It always seems to boil down about them not liking the Canadian way of life including the health service. However, they don't seem be coming back here any time soon.

My late mum was pleased with the Canadian health service and until she was literally taken over by the Public Guardians, she led a good life.

It's difficult to say which countries have the best health service as they are difficult to compare. Over here you have to wait for at least 40 minutes to get an ambulance. My GP who had serious breathing difficulties ( they suspected Covid) waited for 40 minutes before they took her into A&E.

My elderly (85 yr old) neighbour waited 12 hours in A&E to get treatment. They finally got to her at 2 am !

I would also have a hard time settling down in Quebec.... it is very different from most of the rest of Canada and I don't find those differences comfortable. Can't tell from your description if they are French or not, that can make a huge difference. We have had a couple of opportunities to work in Montreal and have turned them down more than once. It is a beautiful province and we love to visit and most of the people are wonderful also, we then love to go home.

In which way do you find it different?

I have visited both Montreal and Quebec city as well as BC and Ontario. I found the climate to be very cold, even during the Spring.

Yes, they are French and also from the South which is also very different compared to other areas.

Even if they are from another country it would be in everyone's best interest to vaccinate as many people as possible, according to experts. If we, as a country, can dole out free shots to homeless people without medical coverage, why not people from other countries, regardless of the reason? The cost to the government should be irrelevant in this case.

Only 58 people turned up in to get a AZ jab yesterday in Nice. They had 4000 doses and had planned to stay open
during the entire weekend. However, they closed the hub on Saturday.

Perhaps they should read the following article :

This year they will release an implant that is to be be placed in the right hand and the forehead, don't participate, the plan for this is that the chip will hack your brain and kill your individuality and make you a obedient slave the the one who wields the power over this technology, The plan is to destroy the possibility of individual though entirely, the mind of every human on the planet would therefor be connected to one big smart grid (the hive mind) that would control all thoughts and emotions the result would be a world void of freedom and individuality, the only way out of this is revolution, when they start doing this (and they will) we must revolt against it, we must not fear what may happen if we do for the alternative is far worse, in the end (if we revolt) we will prevail, and we shall all be free.

Sorry, it's already been done:

Seriously though, why are so many people leaning towards towards conspiracy theories that are so flagrantly obvious, when all these implants, and transmitters, and sensors could have so easily been done by dentists, doctors, hairstylists, tattoo and piercing salons, for allllll these years, totally undercover,

He has a point though... maybe there is no microchip coming for us, but you have to admit that technology and AI is taking over our lives in ways we never anticipated and is becoming quite intrusive. I remember a time when we would go out and nobody had a phone and you had 100% of someones attention... a time where there was no electronic recording of bodily functions and we might write stuff down in a paper diary. Maybe i am old fashioned though..
