Tip and Tricks you wish someone told you - Newbie seeking advice

New to veganism. Would love to hear tips and tricks you wish someone would have shared with you early on in your journey.
Valuable information that took you a long time to learn? Systems you've perfected? Epic fails that others could learn from? Favorite recipes you keep on repeat?

(Don't be afraid to infodump ) Thanks!

It's surely a matter of taste, but I put mixed nuts into at least half the meals I eat, ensuring I always have good protein throughout the day. In my cold cereal, stir fries, Indian foods like biryani and dum aloo, etc., etc.. I draw the line at pasta.

I wish someone would have told me that marshmallows weren't vegetarian - a "smores" on a camping trip was my first unintended slip.

When you’re reading ingredient lists, a few ingredients to look out for are casein, carmine, cochineal, shellac and confectioners glaze. Casein is a dairy byproduct, carmine and cochineal are both names for a red dye derived from beetles, and shellac or confectioners glaze is also derived from bugs. It’s commonly used on chocolate covered almonds and anything with a hard candy exterior to make the confections shiny.

For quite some time, I was oblivious to what gelatine is. I also wasn't sure about whether or not the wool industry is closely tied to meat/mutton/lamb production- but evidently, sheep raised for wool are often slaughtered as well. A quote from early in the website below:

Meat Sheep

In the United States, most sheep and lambs are meat-type animals kept primarily for the production of lambs for meat or dual-purpose breeds kept for both meat and wool production. Meat production is also a significant profit center in sheep dairying.
