Can Anyone Help?

@4silva I know about "quick" rolled oats vs. regular rolled oats. Then there are oat groats vs. steel-cut oats, which are whole oat grains and oat grains which have been cut into several smaller pieces (respectively)- I had to "Google" those last two terms just now to make sure I had them straight. But I don't know if regular rolled oats come in different... I dunno.... "grades"?

I just ate about 2 hours ago, but your mentioning oats, peanut butter, raisins, maple syrup, and walnuts made me hungry again...
I bought a 25 lb bag from Azure Standard--they have shipping drops and you meet the truck for your stuff for like $4 shipping. Good prices and quality. That was the first I saw a rating. I've been using thick cut, just never saw a # before.
I thought of you lugging a big ole bag!

I remember doing a comparison awhile back between steel cut, thick rolled and quick oats and the difference was negligible, particularly in regard to fiber/protein. I was surprised and a bit disappointed.

@KLS52 Huh... the picture on the package of McCann's "Steel Cut Irish Oatmeal" (in your post above) doesn't look like the "steel-cut oats" I saw for sale in a local health food store. Maybe that's yet another type of oats? It doesn't surprise me that all the different kinds of oats are pretty much the same nutritionally, though.

I was about to say that! Steel cut are also know as "pin head", and like groats cut in pieces, not rolled
I really like groats, but not steel cut. Like how I don't like short grain rice

I agree. The ones I used to get look more like this...like pellets.
