Health Issues Vegans-Risks of depression & anxiety

There is so much disinformation in the nutrition field. Some of it comes from just misunderstanding or a level of igonrance. in some cases I suspect maliciousness. And of course there is some that comes from "for profit" And there is some stuff that is just crazy.

......Dr. Grundy also has some science to back up his crazy claims. .....
(your post only partially quoted) Yep. I came across a few links to Grundy's articles, and when one seemed to indicate he had a problem with oats and/or blueberries, I didn't investigate further. I eat blueberries now and then- they're very expensive and don't seem to have any nutrients (like anthocyanins, vitamins, etc) which I don't get from other foods. But oats are a daily staple of mine.
Agreed. Dietary restrictions are only a problem if they suppress a nutrient that can cause a serious disease or death, outside of that a lot is myths and theories that not necessarily apply to practice.

As an example, when I started giving up animal products whole proteins was big worry. These last five years or more, can't remember exactly, have been the longest run without animal products, but, unlike previous attempts, whole proteins have been almost absent, soy is very rare, possibly only once had a soy drink in the last year, nuts a bit more common but not even on a daily base, consumed only for the fat and could perfectly go without, whole grains and beans have been the main source of protein, the only thing that is difficult to skip eventually is a tablespoon of flaxseed oil. Whole protein is a complete myth.

And even before that, in the preceding vegetarian period, until eleven years ago, animal products mostly eggs or small amounts of cheese were only a supplement, whole grains and legumes were the main source of protein.
I was a bit worried until I realized that by "whole proteins" you meant proteins with a good percentage of all 8 essential amino acids: milk, egg, etc. If you eat a variety of different proteins over the course of about a day, your body can almost certainly manage very well with that. And flaxseed oil is a good source of essential fatty acids, such as omega-3s.

Yes, soy, buckwheat, potatoes, nuts are all complete proteins too.

All one needs to do as an alternative is to combine grains and legumes.

A lot of celebrities are into blueberries, I believe Ringo Starr too.

Except for JL I get the impression all the Beatles became vegetarians.

John was a fleeting (and cheating) vegetarian at multiple points in his life, including 1980 (when he snuck cheeseburgers into the "Double Fantasy" sessions). I don't know that it particularly stuck for George. Both Paul and Ringo a (at least publicly) are long-time vegetarians (although not vegans) at this point.

There is some contradictory information on the internet about George Harrison, but it seems he remained vegetarian to the end. The first time I learn about the extension of the environmental impact of vegetarianism was reading an interview with Paul McCartney.

I just saw Ringo in concert last week and was lucky enough to be front row center with him singing a few feet from me. He is in incredible health for an 84-year-old (85 tomorrow), looking great and running on and off the stage. I can't help but think being a vegetarian has played a significant role.

Tomorrow, now today, the official day of peace and love✌️.

I've watched some videos he posts on his channel lately and he looks great. There is also a video about the kickstart of the tour you mentioned, great alignment his All-Starr Band.

There are other musical artists. According to the internet, which often exaggerates, Bill Ward and Geezer Butler from Black Sabbath are vegans.

Brazilian singer João Gordo is vegetarian and has, or had, an YouTube show to promote veganism where he interviews Brazilian celebrities while a chef cooks a vegan dish. He says many times during conversations that vegetarianism saved his life. According to Wikipedia he and his wife have a vegan food delivery program to the homeless in São Paulo.

Bill Ward has been vegan since the 80's, and Geezer was vegan ---probably around that time. Geezers been vegetarian since he was 8. He was a huge inspiration to me

I’ve actually been vegan for about a year now, and while I did struggle a bit with energy and mood early on, I realized a lot of it had to do with blood sugar swings and nutrient gaps. Since managing that better, including with some help from tools like Buy Mounjaro Online , things really stabilized for me. I think the key is mindful planning, not just cutting out meat.

Vegans face significantly higher risks of depression, anxiety, etc. -- New research

“People following vegan diets face significantly higher risks of depression, anxiety, and other mental health challenges than their omnivorous counterparts.”

The unexpected mental health consequences of veganism, according to medical research

What do you guys think?
I think… it’s mostly ‘vegan bashing’. IMO, it’s not the diet, but the psychology of bucking against the system and the indoctrination from infancy that ‘may’ cause some distress… That’s one reason why it’s so important to surround yourself with likeminded support…
Personally, I don’t believe much of anything what so-called scientific experts suggest… I choose to be a critical thinker, but that’s not criticism, it’s checking things out for yourself…
Don’t fear to be different, and don’t we celebrate difference these days!!!
