Well, this ought to be fun!

Totally and absolutely non-representative, of course, but, if you were (or are) a US voter, which of the current candidates would you vote for?

Votes are NOT public. Please, however, if you want to share, feel free to also comment.

(forgive me, I'm quite lazy, so I don't put the name of all xxx Republican candidates who - in theory - are still in the race. Also, I think the number of possible voting options is limited)

Also, if you think that some Republican candidate should be put in the poll, please let me know, and I will try to add them.

I don't think most of us Americans on the board are planning to vote for any of the Republicans. But I could be wrong. :p

As for myself, I'll vote for Bernie Sanders in the California primary (which won't be until June), but if Hillary Clinton wins the nomination, I'll be voting for her in November. She can't possibly be any worse than any of the Republicans.

I would probably vote for Sanders if I were an American citizen. If in the general election I had to choose between Clinton, a Republican, a third-party candidate, and not voting ... I'm not sure what I would do. Sure, Clinton probably is preferable to any of the Republicans, just like getting a bad case of the flu is preferable to amputation of your arm.

I'm voting for Bernie Sanders, both in the primaries and the general election. If somehow, $hillary manages to steal the nomination, which she and her minions at the DNC are conspiring to do, I'll vote Bernie as a write-in candidate. Better the Democratic Party go down in flames, than to support their dirty politics.

I'm the person who put Clinton. Even though she's not my favorite person in the world and certainly has problems, I think she's experienced, professional, moderate, and intelligent, and she is preferable to all the others in the field. While I find Sanders endearing and likeable, I don't think his platform is realistic (in terms of being able to implement it AND in terms of it making sense economically) nor do I think he would stand a chance in the general election. I also sometimes regret my primary vote for Obama 8 years ago, which was based on idealism and personality.

Hah, this is me exactly, except for the primary, as I'm registered as an Independent. As much as I want a woman to be elected president, I am no fan of Hillary.

I agree with most of this. They both have plus and minuses, but I think Hillary is our only chance of beating the Republicans. She's moderate enough that the Republicans on the fence would be willing to vote for her over Trump, but Bernie is too far left and I don't think they would be willing to bend far enough to vote for him.

I switch my registration depending upon which primary I want to vote in. It's BS that Independents can't vote in primaries in all the states.

I was in Chicago this past week. At the hotel I was flipping channels one night and came across Fox news "rating" political ads. They bashed Bush and praised Christie, but most surprising of all, the gave Bernie's ad an A+.

Politics makes strange bedfellows, and I find it interesting that they would (indirectly) give thumbs up to a "socialist" (which is a four letter word among Republicans), just so they could spite Hillary...

I have a perception of Clinton too, but it's not nearly as flattering, I'm afraid! And here I feel my perception is similar to that of the American people. A lot of Democrats and voters leaning that way are just not excited about her. In fact, a majority of Americans find her not honest or trustworthy. It will be crucial to win swing states, but Clinton faces an uphill battle due to negative favorability ratings. Additionally, Clinton's got a certain history, and the Republican machine can be trusted to exploit it for all it's worth.

I have seen a lot of comments that Bernie Sanders would do much better against Trump than Hillary Clinton.
While that might be propaganda, it still made sense to me considering the personalities of the candidates.

I live in a state with open primaries. I plan on voting for Bernie Sanders.

I'm okay with Clinton or Sanders. I will happily vote for either one of them when it comes down to it. I'm actually a bit conflicted about which one to vote for in the primaries though. I like Bernie's over all ideas better but I worry about how he would fair with moderate swing voters.

Although I don't know millions of people, every single one I do know in real life is voting for Hillary. The only people I know voting for Bernie are people I talk to on the internet, or FB friends I've never met. I've got to think the media is exaggerating his popularity/rank. I don't trust polls anyway, you can always find a way to skew it to reflect what you want.

I'm a regular commenter on Raw Story, and practically everyone else who comments there is a Bernie fan. If I post that I'm okay with Hillary winning they get pretty upset because they think she's evil compared to Bernie. I don't agree.

This is me, exactly. I was actually upset when Bernie jumped into the race because I thought Hillary was the best choice for the Democratic nominee as she had support from a wide range of voters. Now that support has eroded because a lot of people "prefer" Bernie without stopping to think if he's actually electable against the Republicans. One thing that can improve his chances is if Trump mounts an independent campaign that siphons votes away from the Republican nominee, but he's so damn popular with the Republicans he's probably going to BE the party's nominee.

Do you think Hillary is electable? I don't see any of the candidates from either party as very electable, tbh. I predict a close race with a crappy president.
