The quote refers to sodomy. AFAIK sodomy generally referred to every sexual practice and act that wasn't heterosexual and missionary style. So it wasn't just homosexuality, but included sexual acts that remain punishable to this day. So maybe Jefferson's and society's main moral failings at the time weren't so much their opposition to homosexuality, but their failure to distinguish between homosexuality and other sexual acts / practices.

It is just the politicians spouting off. No one is picketing, lol. The people are mostly happy the debate is over with, and glad the upcoming election can focus on other important matters like budgets, military spending, the middle east, fixing the VA health care embarrassment, unemployment, the deficit, etc.

It's terrible that you can be put in jail and even get killed of just loving the wrong person.

In Norway, the law against men having sex with men, was under the same law as sex with animals. The law was removed in 1972, but then it suddenly made it legal to have sex with animals... (but that was changed some years ago again). I don't think there is any contries that has had laws against women having sex with women? Just men?

These people are going against the law and they're going to end up shutting up and dealing with it. It might take a few months, even a year, but lawsuits will shut them up.

I have found nearly everyone I know reacting in a positive manner to this news. I did have to unfriend one person on FB who made those "Christian" comments on a post I made. This person is a relative of my ex DIL and her whole family is crazy anyway! Not like I was really her "friend"!

None of my FB friend has posted anything negative about this luckly. But I removed a couple after Conchita won the European song contest. I suddenly discovered some disturbing comments from a couple, about how sick she is. So out with them.

I long ago weeded out and blocked the type of person that would've commented negatively. Only positive comments and a sea of rainbows covering my friends avatars.

Yes, I regularly check some FB organizations like "Britain First" or the German "Pegida" to see if anybody on my friend list has liked those, to weed out my "friends" list.
