Has anyone that was deficient, or just known to be low, had success with plant based D3?
When I tested deficient I was having real bone pain and got it up with regular lanolin D3, and continued up until a couple months back when I got vegan D3 at 5000 IU a day. I'm getting the same pains in my feet and ankles again. I should get tested in late June
I take plant based vit D, but I get out in sun (well daylight) at least one hour a day too now.

I remember you saying it as I had pain in my feet and ankles too. My doctor said I had extremely low vitamin D levels before that.

When I tested low I was walking a lot in the midday sun, and taking D2. Even after high dosing of D3 I barely made the lowest normal level. I increased my dose on doctors advice, but haven't tested since--that was over a year ago. I did feel better, and only changed to vegan D3 about two months ago. Now I'm getting the same pain. I have an appt late June so will get blood work then
Have you been tested since taking the vegan D3?

I don't know the biology of this but I suspect you have some absorption issues. I think its well know that older adults sometimes have absorption issues with vitamins. so it seems like a strong possibility. I'm almost sure I've read that D3 is less absorbable.

isn't there a plant based D2?

That one isn't plant sourced though, it's from lanolin

nooooooooooooo I never noticed that - grrrrr or should I say baaaaaaa

so I just checked and they another version, with Magnesium and it is vegan D3 - thank you for pointing it out @silva , I will buy this one instead next time

I've been told it's D2 supplements that aren't bioavailable, --I was taking Deva. It wasn't until I took the lanolin based D3 that I got better after the high doses. I was then taking 2000 IU and when retested was at the lowest end of normal. I upped to 5000 IU and was good for the last couple years, but not tested again. I switched to plant based D3 a couple months ago and am feeling the same kinds of pain in ankles and feet, so I'll get a test at my next appt

I had bone pain like that for years before I requested a blood test for D. I was sent for cat scans and an Ortho appt--my doctor never even thought of the simplest idea of low D!
I have no idea why I have absorption problems
