Health Issues The Everything Covid 19 Thread

Did your family get together? I'm thinking maybe it's psychosomatic
How you feel better!
Lol you are likely right. My oldest daughter isn’t even humoring me at this point This is the fourth time since March that I’ve thought I might have covid.
I’m sneezy and my throat and ears hurt. And my nose burns inside. But I’ve had that with allergies. I’m also very fatigued and sleeping a lot. It’s the body aches that bother me most. No fever though. I just wanted a slot just in case. If I feel the same by Monday I’ll go and do it. Might as well.

I’m glad you’re getting tested. Better safe than sorry.

The city’s COVID Info ads are now advising everyone to get tested often, even if they don’t have symptoms.

Have you lost your sense of taste or smell?

I haven’t felt good since NYE so I scheduled a test for Monday. I’m hoping I will feel better and then I will cancel it. It’s just a precaution and I wanted to grab a slot just in case. It’s highly unlikely that I have covid considering I don’t go anywhere. It’s probably allergies.
Oh, man, I hope you feel better soon! I have to say, my sinuses/allergies have been a disaster of late, so maybe it's just allergies, though I'm no doctor. :D I think the weather has been contributing a lot to my issues, warm then cold then warm again.

I have not lost my sense of taste or smell which is making me think it’s not covid. My friend’s daughter started out with cold and sinus symptoms and the fatigue and she chalked it up to a cold until days later when she did lose her sense of taste and smell. It’s what I keep waiting for. My gut tells me it’s like Lou said...every sneeze, ache/pain etc. makes me think it’s covid but it’s likely not. And I guarantee that even if I get tested and it comes back negative, I will wonder if it’s a false negative and if I did the swab correctly. It’s definitely a mental health issue at this point with me. Not to mention, if I do have it were doomed because no one is as cautious as I am. Yes, we got together at Christmas but we quarantined before hand. So if that didn’t work then it really is out there and no one is safe.

So what we have (hopefully) has a name.
Health Anxiety and Attentional Bias.

Health anxiety is the misinterpretation of normal bodily sensations as dangerous. Healthy bodies produce all sorts of physical symptoms that might be uncomfortable, painful, unexpected, and otherwise unwanted — but not dangerous.
Attentional bias refers to how a person's perception is affected by selective factors in their attention. Attentional biases may explain an individual's failure to consider alternative possibilities when occupied with an existing train of thought
-https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attentional_bias

I think we should have a name that is specific to Covid 19, tho.

I have constant allergies so I am always sneezing and sniffling! I think the first sign of covid is fever.

Actually about 1/4 of people with COVID in studies had a fever as their first sign. The loss of smell and taste seem to be the most tell-tale symptoms.(bonus, this symptom don't mimic other illnesses!) Despite this, I still have to take my patient's temperatures twice a day. who needs evidence-based science, right?

@Chryssie I never knew I had a constant runny nose/allergies until I had to attest to symptoms every day for work! I now use Flosnase everyday and it works like a charm haha.

It occurred to me that I haven't had need for lip balm since wearing a mask at work. I would only use it at work, but hated going a day without it!

I've spoken with quite a few people these last few days and with one exception, they've all been socialising.

Moreover, one person told me that her uncle's friend who is a doctor is advising people to wait for the Sanofi vaccine which will be available
end of 2021. Apparently it's better suited to get protection against Covid.

Covid vaccinations.

France behind on vaccines

''This tweet from French media outlet BFMTV illustrates that the country is behind others with the rollout of the vaccine.
The European Medicines Agency, which advises the EU, approved the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine on 21 December but it is not expected to rule on a potential alternative from US company Moderna until Wednesday.
It is awaiting more data on a candidate from AstraZeneca/Oxford University, which has already been approved in the UK.
EU health commissioner Stella Kyriakides told German news agency DPA that any delay in getting approved vaccines out was down to production capacity shortage, not EU planning.''

Everyone I know is hunkered down and will remain so till we get the vaccine. The general consensus is that we have come too far to get careless now with the finish line in sight.
The only people I see, i see outdoors and 6 feet apart. Everyone else I know I haven't seen in person since... April? We just do phone calls and face times.

I sort of miss my weekly meetings at Starbucks (the old geezer club). but the ones I care about I now call once a week. And the ones i never really liked anyway, i never call. so in a way that is a plus.

I miss going to the gym and doing some volunteer work, too. I need to get better about my home workouts but that is not the lockdown's fault. And I've found ways to contribute from home (postcards and phone calls and online meetings).

Scotland is going into a lockdown and Bojo will address the nation tonight at 8 pm:

Boris Johnson will make a TV address tonight to set out "further steps" to combat the spread of COVID-19.
The prime minister is expected to speak at 8pm amid calls for a third national lockdown in England.

When going on walks now I'm walking just on the streets on the main roads again like I did earlier in the year as it is easier to avoid people.

I'm working quite quickly through my pile of books to read. At least the weather is horrible and cold so it doesn't seem as bad to have to stay indoors so much!

I wish that we could also go into a lockdown. People are not abiding with regulations and I fear that the virus is going to go wild.
