This Phil Robertson is a real NASTY piece of work. He claimed he's a product of the 1960's. 1860's is more like it. It’s not enough that he’s homophobic, but he’s racist, too. He's apparently got this antiquated image of black people as these happy little Sambos (excuse the word) frolicking in the cotton fields singing happy songs without a care in the world, content with their lot. I swear, I wouldn't be surprised if his daddy kept a KKK outfit in his closet.

I've never watched Duck Dynasty. I don't want to. This is beyond sick fascination with rednecks. It's a journey into a twisted world that I have always thought, or hoped, disappeared with the Voting Rights Act. This guy makes me sick. I'll be happy when the show eventually gets cancelled, although it's such a huge cash cow for A&E (not to mention the people on the show) that I don't know when that will be.

I'm curious to see the spike in viewership with all the free advertising they are getting.

:fp:

I kept reading references to Duck Dynasty and I assumed that it was some type of children's programme.:D

Apparently there has been a big spike in their merchandise sales already.

I read the GQ article, (annoyingly more about the author than the subject, classic GQ), and this duck hunting guy is a complete idiot. He even cheats in hunting by planting food ducks like and flooding the plains during hunting season to attract ducks he can kill.

Purely being 'me' ...

Duck hunting in the Sahara desert with no bait at all would be complete idiocy.

This guy has, at least, some rudimentary common sense.

You can tell if something is common sense by how much sense it makes to common people, btw.

It would appear that this guy's sense has a very broad base of appeal.

These are completely normal and regular tactics used by duck hunters. There's no form of hunter that I think less of; most duck hunters are on par with the people who participate in canned trophy hunts.

These reality shows bring out the voyeuristic tendencies in the viewers and the worst side of the people featured in the shows, in the name of "entertainment".

I used to love the Arts & Entertainment network. Now they just have trash on; I don't know what happened.

No one can convince me that *anyone* associated with A&E was surprised by this guy's views on homosexuality or African-Americans. He's said similar ignorant things publicly for years. He's a redneck southern preacher hunter in his 60's.

I hope A&E cancels the show, but with merchandise sales alone at $400,000 this year, I think they'll try to find a way to keep it on the air.

I agree on all points.
