The coffee Lovers thread

since you are not addicted to the caffein - its just an emotional thing. You might find some kind of replacement. I'd recommend hot cocoa but then there is the calorie thing.
I agree. I have done tea. I only need a small amount of milk/creamer in my tea. And I need more sugar in tea than coffee. But it's still less calories.

What works well, especially in the warmer months...since I drink protein shakes anyway...I add cold coffee to the vanilla protein shake and I really enjoy that. It's too bad it doesn't taste good hot...I did try that. But it's a no go.

Weak coffee is horrible. It would seem that it's the creamer that is the culprit. Have you seen any that have no sugar?
I'm not sure. It doesn't seem to matter because even the ones with sugar taste bad. For some reason it has to be silk soy original creamer. I always worry that someday it will become unavailable.

I've decided my coffee is closest to a cappuccino minus the steam/foam lol. I don't do quite a 1:1 ratio but it's close and I do heat my creamer, mainly because it cools off my coffee too much since I use a good amount of it.

Cappuccino

A cappuccino is a popular coffee drink that’s made by topping a shot of espresso with steamed milk and milk foam.
Typically, it contains equal parts of each and is made up of about 1/3 espresso, 1/3 steamed milk, and 1/3 foamed milk.
This gives the final product a creamy, rich, and smooth taste and texture.

Latte

The term “café latte” literally translates to “coffee milk.”
Although there is no standard recipe for making a latte, it generally involves adding steamed milk to a single shot of espresso.
In some cases, it’s also topped with a light layer of foam, and sugars or sweeteners may be mixed in as well.
Compared with the other beverages, lattes have a more mild, slightly sweet flavor, as they contain a greater proportion of steamed milk.

Macchiato

Traditionally, the macchiato is made by combining a shot of espresso with a small splash of milk.
However, many other variations are available, including the latte macchiato, which is made by adding a shot of espresso to a glass of hot milk.
Because the macchiato is usually made using just a small amount of milk, it has a much stronger flavor than other coffee drinks.
It’s also much smaller than other drinks, with a standard serving clocking in at just 1 1/4 ounces (37 ml).

Filtered is better for the cholesterol. I do a pour over at home, at the hospital I take the filtered stuff they make for the patients (and staff), never the automated soulless machine made crap. And it's as black as Norwegian metal.

Roasted Ground Cacoa

I just learned about this new fad - making coffee but with roasted ground cacao.

Does anyone here have some knowledge or experience with this?

Supposedly it's healthier.
I think from the ethical and environmental perspective it's just like coffee. And just like coffee some of those concerns can be mittiaged by buying organic and free-trade.

not wanting to spend a lot of money on something I wouldn't like I tried making a cup this morning. I didn't have the "roasted ground cocoa - which I guess resembles coffee grounds but I had organic powdered cacao (which I have for some recipes). I put it in my pour over coffee maker. It came out sort of weak but I still liked it. I added a half a teaspoon of sugar for sweetness. next time I'm going to put it in my tea brewer and see how it comes out. I don't think the cocoa has been roasted - but from what I hear raw cocoa powder has more nutrients than roasted and ground.

I'm also thinking of trying to make it the same way I make matcha tea lattes . Where the powder is dissolved in 3/4 cup hot water hot water and then I add 1/4 cup sweetened vanilla soy milk

FYI

It was gross. But then I might not be the best judge because I think I'm not exactly the norm when it comes to liking things lol.

I forget the name of the company I purchased it from. I'll see if I can find it in my email. It was expensive but the goods news is, I got a full refund.

It was really bad...I don't know what I expected. I made it according to directions then I tried increasing the amount of grounds. But nothing helped. It just tasted like dirty water.

I have raw cacao and I love it. It's nothing like the ground cacao and I think that is the problem for me.
@Lou maybe try the crio bru since it has a guarantee.

what do you do with it? and is in powder form?
If I remember correctly you brew it like coffee. It's not powder. It's more like coffee grounds. I did the pour over because I think it was suggested to do that. Honestly it was October of 2023 and I was so disappointed I just wiped it from my memory lol.

I think I expected it to taste like cocoa lol. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Cacao and cocoa both come from the cacao bean, but the key difference lies in the processing. Cacao refers to minimally processed, raw or lightly roasted cacao beans, often used in smoothies or as nibs. Cocoa, on the other hand, is a more processed powder made from roasted cacao beans, sometimes with added alkali or other additives.

Yes, that is what I have been reading about. The proponents do warn that it's not like coffee or chocolate.
This morning I just went and made some hot chocolate with my powdered cacoa. going to have to play around with the proportions a little but I liked it but not as much as hot chocolate milk. but since covid its been hard to find chocolate soy milk. (I used to buy silk chocolate protein drink but I can't find it anymore.) Some stores carry chocolate flavored oat milk.

I used to love the regular Silk chocolate milk (never had the protein drink). For extra protein I'm hooked on the ripple chocolate and vanilla, which I add coffee to.
I find making hot chocolate with the cacao powder to be really good. For me, it's better with regular soy milk as opposed to almond or other non dairy milks. Soy milk seems to be the least watery so makes for a good hot chocolate. Of course, I have to add sugar too.

This is my favorite.

I can't imagine liking the cacoa brew. I've tried the mushroom 'coffee' and :hurl: .
I was intrigued by the supposed health benefits. And it was constantly in my face on Facebook...I finally caved lol.
