I continue to be bemused by people who think that a country in which an ever increasing majority thinks that trump is doing a good job handling the coronavirus crisis is somehow ready and eager for a "revolution."

This fact is astonishing to me. I saw a collection of quotes from the occupier of the White House since about early February, I think, that ranged from calling it a hoax to derail his election campaign to denying that it would come to the U.S. Even when one presents these quotes to his supporters, they completely go into trump mode and cry fake news, media bias, or they go on about what he's doing now. They don't seem to realize that so many deaths could have already been prevented had he gotten out in front of this in January, when scientists and others were telling him that this was a huge problem that could have devastating effects.

I fear that he will be reelected and he will just take this country down with him.

I agree.

I've given up on the 40% or so of the population that form his core base. There's simply no hope of anything better from them. But the ones in between - there's the continuing disappointment. They either don't care, are too lazy to pay even minimal attention, or god knows what. It's frightening.

So many don't think beyond what the most important person in America says as long as it validates what they want to hear.
What I find so very depressing is how many who claim to be liberal can be swayed by a twit or a meme. The majority of those I know that are democrats agree with Bernies policies, but vote for Biden because he;s safer--he;s not safe at all. He's nothing but a continuation of the same and will do more damage than that what we have now, because it will all become mainstreamed, not changed

It is. I was listening to the New Yorker radio hour today, and the wavering ones are the problem. They are moving back toward him. Trump has done a masterful job of discrediting the media, and it's shameful. These are the actions of a dictator. The only good thing about this is that he can't hold those stupid rallies.

Agreed! I'm so not a fan of Biden, but I cannot in good conscience ever vote trump. No way, no how. And I feel that if I write in Bernie, it's giving a vote to trump.

He doesn't need to hold rallies. He's on TV Every. Single. Day. And he's all over the newspapers, social media, etc. He is getting all the free publicity any candidate could want. It's trump, 24/7. This is his perfect environment.

I think the fact that rump is giving "press conferences" every. single. day. gives him far more credence to both his supporters and those whose "don't like him but like his policies".
He's surrounded by professionals who HAVE to pander to him in order to get any real information out.
Now we hear all kinds of platitudes and euphemisms like "he;s just trying to give people hope", and "he was just thinking out loud".
He's literally admitted that in order to get anything needed you have to give him worship! His supporters will be playing clips of the governors giving this cretin credit just to get PPE's! Just to save lives, not because they feel he deserves any credit!

What's sad is how the media, the entire democratic party, manuvered that very feeling in the primaries. I'm in agreement- as of now I'd vote for Biden over Trump, but I'm angered how many felt they had no choice in the primary.
I'm not at all sure Biden can beat out Trump, esp now

Sad, but true. I hate to even suggest this, but news outlets should stop airing these "briefings" live because they are full of lies and delusion.

Yes, it's shameful. This is why I loathe party politics so much. A few people at the top are deciding how Democrats should feel/vote. This is also why I remain unaffiliated.

NPR has stopped airing them. I noticed our local news channel stops them when the world news with Lester Holt comes on!

Why do you think they're not any prevalent third party candidates yet? I haven't from any!

I think it is beyond horrible that the Democratic party machine continues to push Biden although everybody with half a brain must know by now what will happen in the election if he is the candidate. I seriously believe they would rather have 4 more years of Dump than a „Socialist“ who might threaten their comfortable arrangements with their donors. And - just like the Repugnicans - they don’t mind at all to put the country, and all of humanity in peril with that.

rump is on tv now. The whole thing is nothing but a "thank you mr president for the wonderful things you does" butt kiss show

Maybe me just finding hope where ever I can find it. But my hope is that Trump on TV is doing as much damage to his credibility as helping him.

We need to see this ad again.

Biden is the democratic candidate, that's been decided 90-95%. So it makes sense to support him at this point.

If the choice is between fairly bad and really awful, the relative gain from getting bad is the same as the same as the gain between great and good. So, it makes as much sense to vote for fairly bad (to avoid awful) as it does to vote for great (rather than good)..

Think about it this way: In an alternative world, if the two Presidential candidates you would rate them as 8/10 and 6/10, then you might happily vote for, and spread the word excitedly about the 8/10 candidate.

But if the two candidates are 4/10 and 2/10, you might just be turned off by the whole thing and not vote at all. However it's the same as the other situation. There are two points difference.

So campaigning for Biden by sharing the word on facebook, voting, donating, has the same benefit as campaigning for your favourite candidate against an OK candidate.

If you don't vote for 4/10 (Biden), then you are get 2/10 (Trump).

So please let's get behind Biden! And, it's not just him but who he appoints. Biden will appoint various democrats of left as well as centre to certain roles. Biden might get a supreme court decision.

Once Biden is in the white house, and Trump is gone forever, then everyone should call him to account. Working hard to get Biden elected and then the second he enters the white house immediately becoming his opponent and calling him to account is perfectly consistent, logical and sensible. Let's say someone works on Biden's campaign team, ferociously and passionately winning him thousands of votes and then the second Biden gets the call from Trump conceding defeat from Trump walks out of the office, and the next day she goes to work for Extinction Rebellion and joins a road blockade the day Biden is made President, stopping him accessing the white house on his inauguration day to highlight his laughably catastrophic climate policies, and then becomes a hardcore socialist activist looking at ways to force an end to the excesses of neoliberalist capitalism with radical activism. That would be entirely consistent, and sensible.

Please don't give me "but Biden will lose". He is already (near enough) the candidate and his likelihood of winning is not relevant to my above arguments. Plus, the more liberals and democrats that act defeatist, the more likely that happens.

Support him hard now (but stating clearly that you do this because he is the best of a bad choice) and then call him to account later.
