Here is a little something I made this week. These are my go to bread when I make bread. Enjoy!
- 2 tsps yeast granules
- 1 Tbs sugar
- 1/2 cup warm to almost hot water
- 1/4 cup vegan margarine
- 1 cup of milk of your choice plus 4 TBS
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 cups spelt flour ( or wheat flour if you choose)
- Sesame seeds
- Lightly grease 2 cookie sheets.
- Set oven to 220c
- Combine yeast and sugar and add warm water. Let it sit somewhere warm until it bubbles and froths.
- Melt margarine and add salt and milk warming but not boiling.
- Add the milk/butter mixture to 2 1/2 cups of flour and then add the yeast when it is ready. Mix it well for about a minute.
- Cover the bowl with a clean cloth and put the mixture in a warm place until it grows in size.
- Stir the mixture and add the rest of the flour.
- Knead for a few minutes until the mixture feels elastic.
- Make the mixture into rolls the size and shape you wish placing them on the cookie sheets.
- Allow to sit for a little longer and rise.
- Take a the extra milk and brush on rolls before they enter the oven.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
- Cook for 10 to 12 minutes until the rolls sound hollow when tapped.
