It's September, it's a new thread, everyone join in and make healthy choices for yourself!

Healthy choices do not have to be weight loss goals! You could plan to start a new sport, or get more steps in a day, or drink more water, or cut down on Oreos, or do something each day that's good for your mental health (like eating Oreos)! Anything that you feel would be a positive impact on your physical or mental wellbeing counts. And we're all here to support each other.

Last month's thread here.

1. Continue with daily Yoga and meditation.
2. Get more sleep.
3. I should do cardio.
4. Make lunches for work because even the vegan stuff in the cafeteria is pretty fatty. Except this yummy quinoa thing they have.
5. Listen to more loud music and dance more.

I am in again. I am getting a juicer; will be here tomorrow. I am going to make healthy juices and try to cut way back on the processed foods I tend to live on. And once I get all settled in my new place, I will start walking again. And eventually join Planet Fitness.

5. Listen to more loud music and dance more.

I made a playlist of some music to listen to while I jump on my trampoline. I already brought it up from the basement. Walking has been hard due to darkness in the a.m...only been doing 2-3 days a week. Hoping the trampoline will help to keep me going until I go back to 9-5 in two weeks.

Also had a bad two weeks of poor eating. :( Happy it's a new month for a fresh start.

I especially love No. 5. :D I went dancing with a bunch of friends on Saturday night and had an absolute blast. It had been a while since I did that.

September goals:
-- Continue doing cardio five to six days a week to stay in hiking shape (two good trips coming up soon, woo-hooooo) and weights three days a week.
-- Up the water intake. I have kind of slacked a bit on that.
--Lose whatever I can. I have five pounds to reach my goal weight, so if I lose 1 or 2 this month, I will be happy. It will probably take me the rest of the year to drop it, but I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing because it's working: watch the portions and exercise.

So today I was running a little late (probably from staying up too late to watch the first NFL game of the season :D ), but I got to the gym and wanted to do weights, so I cut the cardio to 35 minutes, but really upped the intensity to push myself a bit since it was a shortened session. I burned the same amount of calories (according to the treadmill) that I would in a 50-minute session. Pretty cool! Plus, I got my weights in. It's nice to know I can still get a good workout in if I can't get my usual 50 to 60 minutes.:broccoli:

I was bad and stopped the month ab challenge thing I started back in August. So my goal is to get back on that.

My other goals are still pretty much the same (fit into those pants...), but I'm happy to say that my drink more water goal is a success! I haven't had apple juice in a few weeks! After three-four glasses DAILY, that's incredible for me. I've been drinking loads of unsweetened iced tea, and that seems to be doing the trick. :)

Another goal I've been following is whenever I have an early shift at work where I eat breakfast there instead of lunch, is to keep bringing almond milk in from instead of using the soy milk at work. The almond milk is no less filling, but it saves me 100 calories, which is totally worth it in my mind.

I've also been really good about going for loads of walks. My goal isn't just to lose weight, but to feel healthier and more in shape as well. I'm in my early twenties, I shouldn't be overweight and feeling sleepy and unable to move all the time. I want a healthy body so I can be healthy when I'm older. I want to be one of those 90 year old miracles that can run marathons, and not be one of those frail 70 seventy year olds who can hardly get on and off of a chair.

My goals:

-Write 1000 words a day of my dissertation. This is a mental health goal - I always leave my work to the last minute and have sleepless nights and huge amounts of stress getting it finished.
-Stay hydrated
-Go back to rock climbing (which I will be doing today)

Did a swim! Finally! It was quite nice, the pool is really close enough that I shouldn't make any more excuses!

About to book a bouldering course too but that won't be til October.

It's funny that you wrote a mental health goal cos I wrote a few in my post, then deleted them before posting!

My main one is to check my guilt; stop feeling guilty for not doing things (especially on rainy days like today) and for how I am with other people.

I made the juice fast "Mean Green" juice yesterday and I have to say.... it is disgusting. :( I added some packets of stevia and will tweak it a bit more to make it drinkable. I plan on replacing my snack at work with a juice but don't think I will be making this one too often despite its very healthy qualities! There are literally hundreds of juice recipes to try! I actually have lost a couple pounds in the last couple weeks without even trying so hopefully the juicing will help. I may try a juice fast one day a week.
Everyone is doing so great! Way to go! :clp:

You rock, Ptree!
*blushes* You are too kind, KLS!

Got in a kick-butt workout today: 50 minutes on the treadmill, and I climbed 1925 feet!:starshower:
I have a big hike coming up Saturday: Tuckerman's ravine in New Hampshire with my sister and nephew. The weather is looking good for it so far. I'm beyond curious as to how much my time/strength/wind-suckage factor will improve (it should, anyway.....I hope). Going to kick it into high gear for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and then rest up and carbo/protein load on Friday. :D

One more for this week: eat. I'm on my own for the week, and if I'm not making meals for someone else as well as myself I tend to not eat properly - lots of quick snacks and hardly any actual meals. So I need to make the effort to eat properly.

Wow everyone here is so healthy! I'm the polar opposite of anything resembling athletic, so my goals for this month is to just eat and sleep better! Chasing a toddler around all day also makes it tough to find time for a meal.
My list:
1. Cut the caffeine (making the switch to green tea)
2. Plan meals a week ahead of time
3. 10 minutes of daily yoga

So yesterday I did this combo Leslie Sansone walk/tone video. There are two 30-minute workouts, one cardio, one with weights. You are supposed to alternate the workouts, every other day. Well, I decided to do the cardio and the weights on the same day. There were lots of lunges and squats, and today, I can feel it in my legs, lol. They are tired! :D Tomorrow is a big hike (Mt. Monadnock...it was supposed to be Tuckerman's ravine, but my nephew can't go and my sis doesn't want to do that one without him), hence I am resting the legs for today.

And I lost 1.2 pounds, woot-woot. Happy, happy.

I'm starting ballet again on Wednesday :D

So pleased, it will be great for my back. Not being that active lately, am feeling very lazy. Eating is ok, neither healthy nor damaging.

Will run a mile or 2 today, swim tomorrow :D
