Another article I read on this says that it's common for Octopuses to escape their aquariums. What's really amazing is how Inky knew that the storm drain would take him back to the ocean.

But seriously, maybe he didn't. Either he was just bored and wanted to explore, or he saw an opportunity and wanted to get the eff out of there.
