I had a free cup of cacao at an event the other day and it was quite nice. I saw some cacao in a shop yesterday so I’m going back to buy some next week to try it at home.
I love hot chocolate. I make mine with unsweetened cocoa powder, nondairy milk, sugar and a dash of peppermint extract. Sometimes I'll do vanilla extract, but I love mint flavor in hot chocolate. If I have vegan marshmallows, I'll add them, too.
Silk chocolate flavored protein drink has come back to the stores.
It it tastes good. Same price as soy milk. Nothing to add. And extra protein. Win-win-win -win.
I do have some cocoa powder and I still haven't figured out the right ratio. Last one I tried was one tsp sugar and one tbsp cocoa.
I got some store bought hot chocolate powder. It's made by Silly Cow and it's delicious. not sure why it tastes better than what I make at home. The only ingredients is cocoa and sugar.
And as a present I got a big can of Starbucks hot chocolate powder. It's also very good. it came with a recipe for making mocha. it's good for just regular hot chocolate too.
I have a hot chocolate mix from Coconut Cloud which is vegan and very good but it's pricey. To make homemade I follow a recipe from my mother which is 1 tbsp cocoa and 2 tbsp sugar in whatever milk you want. Probably 8-12 oz.
