Hot Chocolate!

I had a free cup of cacao at an event the other day and it was quite nice. I saw some cacao in a shop yesterday so I’m going back to buy some next week to try it at home.

I buy these, depending on which is available and the least expensive. They are equally good and make a really smooth/rich cup of hot chocolate.

I don't drink hot chocolate often. I use the cacao mostly in baking.

I love hot chocolate. I make mine with unsweetened cocoa powder, nondairy milk, sugar and a dash of peppermint extract. Sometimes I'll do vanilla extract, but I love mint flavor in hot chocolate. If I have vegan marshmallows, I'll add them, too.

Silk chocolate flavored protein drink has come back to the stores.
It it tastes good. Same price as soy milk. Nothing to add. And extra protein. Win-win-win -win.

I do have some cocoa powder and I still haven't figured out the right ratio. Last one I tried was one tsp sugar and one tbsp cocoa.

I got some store bought hot chocolate powder. It's made by Silly Cow and it's delicious. not sure why it tastes better than what I make at home. The only ingredients is cocoa and sugar.

And as a present I got a big can of Starbucks hot chocolate powder. It's also very good. it came with a recipe for making mocha. it's good for just regular hot chocolate too.

I have a hot chocolate mix from Coconut Cloud which is vegan and very good but it's pricey. To make homemade I follow a recipe from my mother which is 1 tbsp cocoa and 2 tbsp sugar in whatever milk you want. Probably 8-12 oz.

I do 1 tbsp of cocoa and 1 tsp sugar (I like mine really chocolatey, lol) and usually 8 ounces of nondairy milk.

oh that is way different than what I do. and my could use some improvements. but I don't think I want to use so much sugar.

I'm not a fan of hot chocolate but the best one is made using chopped plain chocolate 70%-80% with half water/half plant based milk plus a dash of cream and a pinch of salt. Sweeten to taste if you like a sweet version.

I did this a few times after going to the Lindt Chocolatier store at the outlets. They make their hot chocolate by melting their truffles in hot milk and my daughter says it is amazing. So I tried it with vegan dark chocolate and it was really good. Thanks for reminding me to do this. I think I'm going to do it today with my Chocolove chocolate bar.

I did try it with the Lindt oat milk truffles but it wasn't very good as I'm not really fond of the non-dairy truffles. Or oat milk. They just lack flavor.
