My friend and I made this soap:

Thank you!

Yes it is lavender scented, but it isn't very strong. We had done the basic recipe before and now we are experimenting with scent and design, so we weren't sure when to add the essential oil or how much.
I love handmade soaps. I was spoiled by receiving lots of 'not perfect' bars of soap from these elderly nuns that make the perfect ones for fundraising. :D Lavender is such a relaxing scent, perfect for soap.

A lot of ours aren't perfect :D

For the first batch we didn't have moulds, so I poured the liquid soap into a tray, left it overnight and then tried to cut it before it completely hardened. It was like cutting butter, the knife slipped all around and I ended up with bars roughly square but all different sizes. With this batch we got moulds and we also got the cow stamp to put on it, so my friend came in 24 hours after pouring and they were too soft for stamping - the stamp was bringing up chunks of soap. I tried a day later and they were too hard, the stamp barely left an impression. So we know for next time that 36 hours should be ideal. It's all a learning curve but we're having a lot of fun and we're going to sell all the not perfect ones - we think it adds to the home-madey-ness of it if people can see we did it all by hand.

We don't want to get too fancy but we want to try a few different scents, including lemon and coconut, and we might add some crushed lavender or rose petals for a bit of decoration. Personally I like the simplicity of the plain white bars but for gifts it's nicer to add a bit of jazz.

I would really recommend home soap making to anyone who likes making their own stuff. There's a bit of danger with the caustic soda but as long as you follow sensible precautions it's safe and so much fun :)

I'm really impressed with the soap!!!! my creative ventures are here on my blog--skip through some stuff I bought at charity shops to see hanging bags for storing cloth kitchen wipes (we are paper towel free), a cooking apron made of tea towels, some paper crafty bits and some embroidery. http://spidergrrlvstheworld.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/quit-bitchin-in-kitchen.html

Also here is where I built us a customised notice board with fancy decorations and a place for all our lists so we stay organised. http://spidergrrlvstheworld.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/notice-me.html

You can tell you're a teacher! :D

I love all your crafty bits and bobs (that sounds saucy)

Found a few old things on my photobucket:

This was a school project for my Classics class, we were given a Barbie or Ken doll and had to decorate it as a Greek deity. I made mine this outfit out of some material scraps. The final doll had some additional decorations like a peacock fan but I don't have a pic of that.

And many years back I 'drew' this for my mum when I was experimenting with computer graphics programmes:

And then with sketching. She looks like she has something unmentionable dripping down her face, what was I thinking?

I like the variety of crafts here! The Aphrodite Barbie is great! (I'm assuming it's Aphrodite, it's a little blurry so I can't see if she's holding an identifying object) I like the classics...

Anyway it's all great!

Wow some people are posting some amazing stuff here. I havent been doing anything for myself lately. All work work..booooo

My sister is getting married next year and decided to make her own Wedding stuff. It inspired her to offer some for sale too so I hope its not rude of me to share her website!

I used to have these comic characters and Ive done some special image for a calendar you can buy them here if you so wish...

Love it! I have bought one, and one of the mirrors with your artwork too. The calendar can go on my desk at my new job so when people ask I can be like "the artist is my friend" and they will see how important and well connected I am.

That's nice, do you have to pay by paypal?

Nope, you can e-mail the site owner and pay another way. I had a problem with check out so I e-mailed her and she got back to me very quickly.
