Christmas Countdown & Everything Thread

I can't get into making or baking anything. I don't know what's wrong with me. I think it's the cleaning up part that I dread lol.

I promised my granddaughter peanut butter balls. I can't even muster up the ambition for that but I'm going to have to do it. Maybe if I at least take the Earth balance out of the fridge to soften… Then every time I walk in the kitchen it will be a reminder.
Ever put rice krispies in PB balls? I have recipes for that and need to make them

I'll probably make Muddy Buddy Chex

Always. I've only ever done it that way.

I did finally make them. I had to do it for the grandkids.

Yay! I'm glad to hear that. It's the saddest thing when I see trees on the curb today. There are many. But I guess that's the price we pay for Christmas starting so darned early.
I have always waited until at least Jan 2 (or much later, lol) to take down the tree and decorations. It's just so pretty, and I like to enjoy the vibe as long as possible.

My daughter just texted me to tell me she's taking her tree down right now. 😢 at least she's leaving up all of the other decorations… I do understand that the tree takes up a lot of room and she just wants the space back. She's going to put it in the woods behind her house at least, so that the critters/Wildlife can hopefully use it for shelter. I just saw something about that on Facebook saying to do that.

January 2nd: You're dragging your Christmas tree to the curb. STOP. It can save 20 birds' lives for 3 more months.

CHRISTMAS TREE AFTERLIFE (smart use):

**PUT IN YARD (January-March):**
→ Birds use as windbreak shelter
→ Protection from hawks (cover while feeding)
→ Dry perch during snow/rain
→ Roosting spot at night (warmer than exposed branches)

**WHERE TO PLACE:**
- Near bird feeder (3-5 feet away)
- Windward side (blocks wind)
- Branches facing UP (birds perch inside)
- Stable (weight it with rocks if needed)

**WHO USES IT:**
→ Cardinals (need dense cover)
→ Sparrows (ground feeders need quick escape)
→ Juncos (winter visitors from Canada)
→ Chickadees (shelter between feeding trips)
→ Finches

**BONUS USES:**

**APRIL (after birds done):**
→ Cut branches = mulch for garden beds (free)
→ Trunk = firewood next winter
→ City chipper = free wood chips delivered

**VS. CURB TRASH:**
→ Curb: Landfill in 1 day, zero value
→ Yard: 3 months bird shelter + spring mulch = $30 value

Your $50 tree can work for 4 months instead of 3 weeks.

"But it looks dead in my yard!" — It IS dead. But it's useful dead. Better than useless in landfill.

Cardinals don't care about your curb appeal. They care about not freezing.

Share if your tree stays in yard until April.
