UK Brexit - should the UK leave the EU?

The Muslim Council of Britain has compiled over 100 hate incidents that has taken place since the results of the European Referendum were announced on Friday 24 June 2016.

That (growing) list may be found here.

Brexit has given voice to racism:

The EU referendum result has perhaps emboldened racists by leading them to believe that the majority agree with their views on immigration and legitimising such public expressions of hatred. For this, the political elite must take responsibility, after stoking a divisive referendum campaign that demonised immigrants by spreading fictitious scare stories, all the while pandering to the lowest common denominator.

Maybe if all the Brexit supporters hadn't been made out to be a bunch of stupid racists ahead of the referendum, then maybe the real racists wouldn't now feel like they had the support of the majority of the population.
The loudest supporters get the majority of publicity. But these racist scumbags would be acting this way regardless, because Brexit won. And for them, that means making the UK white again.

We will see a similar response in the United States if Trump wins.

I found on my facebook feed this morning an "upbeat" article from the "Independent" about the benefits of immigration (from Europe or other countries) to Britain and the NHS specifically.

What immigration really means to Britain in one picture

After reading the article and the comments on it, however, I think that the problem in the UK might be much worse than I actually thought.

Nearly every commenter used thinly veiled (or not veiled at all) racism to denigrate the positive message of the article.

Now how to interpret this?

- Are racist people more vociferous than others?
- Have non-racist people stopped to care and just ignore it?
- Or have "normal" people come to accept racism and consider it as normal behaviour?

Comment sections on the Internet are notoriously vile. One of the few places on the World Wide Web where that's not true is SoundCloud.

The Daily Mirror is a fairly left wing newspaper and they want the Labour party leader to resign.
People are worried that if there is a General Election called that the Labour party will be wiped out if he stays as leader. They could lose 100 seats. Jeremy Corbyn has lost over 40 members of his team.

People think that Corbyn was very weak in his support for Remain and that he is unelectable as Labour leader.

Labour crisis: Up to 150 MPs expected to vote against Jeremy Corbyn as George Osborne rules himself out of Conservative leadership race

I think a lot of UK people feel that way.:p

Of course he was weak in his support for remaining in the EU, for the very simple reason that Corbyn is a more proper socialist who can easily see that the EU is not some kind of lefty charity, which some people seem to believe. A big part of what the EU is about is removing barriers for free trade, in other words a tool for the international capitalist class to make more profit off the backs of decent, hardworking people on low wages. Free trade means governments can't subsidise or own businesses, which is why we can thank the EU for the privatisation of state-owned institutions, like what happened to e.g. the Royal Mail and similar postal services in other European countries.

I've voted for the Labour party for almost all of my voting life so it is a bit disconcerting that they may be destroyed with what is happening now. I think that JC being Labour leader has really made me consider my views and how I vote as I didn't realise there were so many financially incompetent and inept people on the hard left. I'm not sure who to support at this point.

One of my favourite fake news sites, Austrian site www.dietagespresse.com, published a funny article that I would not want to keep from you ... in fact, I found it so good, that I even translated it to English, just for your enjoyment.

Die Tagespresse said:
"Let's not do anything hasty" : England will continue to participate in the EM for the time being

After the biggest disgrace in the history of England since Friday the England team announced to not want to rush things at departure. For now, the country wants to continue playing despite the defeat against Iceland at the European Championship and get eliminated slowly from the tournament in the course of the next two years .

Immediately after the defeat , the English coach is conceding: " We take notice of our getting kicked out of the tournament. This can come into force under a new team manager , who will be available by October at the latest . " In addition, UEFA has to wait for an official request by the British team pursuant to Article 50.

Petition
However, the match result is perceived by the rest of the British Isles as unexpected and hard. Many football players feel duped: " We did not know that you could actually lose if you let the ball into the goal ," says superstar Wayne Rooney . In a petition handed over to press, 100,000 Britons demand a rescheduling of the game.

No defeat ?
But others emphasize the positive sides: " This might look at first glance like a big defeat for England" said the right-wing populist Nigel Farage. " But I see it much more as a victory of common people over the arrogant, aloof elite. Today, we have taken back our country. We 're on our own again. "

Rating agencies, however, are less optimistic. Thus, Moody's downgraded the country's rating this morning from AAA to HAHAHA.

Translated by me from "Nichts überstürzen": England will vorerst weiter bei EM mitspielen

Finance workers in the City of London say they're 'nervous' after Brexit
"Things have started getting a bit secretive in the office." Not a good sign.
"We've already been spoken to about potentially moving outside London. And we've heard on the street that some of the big institutions are already mobilising people outside of London.

"Some people have been told that they may have to move to wherever that company's headquarters may be. And that's definitely in the eurozone, and not here."

Kerry: Brexit might never happen PressTV-Kerry: Brexit might never happen
"Kerry said that Cameron "feels powerless -- and I think this is a fair conclusion -- to go out and start negotiating a thing that he doesn't believe in and he has no idea how he would do it.”

"And by the way, nor do most of the people who voted to do it," he said, in an apparent reference to "Leave" campaigners such as former London mayor Boris Johnson, who is now the frontrunner to succeed Cameron as premier.

Kerry also said that London does not want to end up feeling boxed in after two years without a new association agreement and having to leave the EU without one."

(I wondered if Brexit might go the way of ILO 169 - UNPO: ILO Convention 169: 20 Years Later - which the Swedish Governments have sent back and forth between committees since 1989. Why? It opens up a can of worms with regards to Same (Lapp) rights)
