What herbs to plant?

I'm about to start gardening for my mom and I. I am form the Philippines and we have a Tropical Rainforest Climate around here. I've recently purchased basil and spinach.. What other herbs and plants do you suggest?

Preferably the kinds that can be good for meals.

Parsley, lemongrass, oregano, basil, dill, sage, rosemary--so many to choose from! I am in Florida USA, which may have a similar climate to yours in the Phillippines.

I don't really know much about gardening, but most herbs grow in a hot climate, so hopefully most Mediterranean type of herbs should be alright - thyme, oregano, basil, etc. Mint and rosemary seem pretty hardy to me.
