What Did You Cook or Bake today?

My favorite spicy cake
I just let the pitted dates simmer in the milk and use an immersion blender. I only use 1/3 cup brown sugar and don't make the sauce

Made bread with white flour and used the whey from straining my soy yogurt and that made all the difference! It's no sour dough,, but is similar
Now I'm thinking to try a starter again

This is the one that I make. I absolutely love this dessert because it's gooey, sticky and utterly delicious. Muscovado sugar does makes the difference and yes, you do need the sauce as it sinks into the pudding. However, we don't use maple syrup in British recipes. Perhaps it's an American take of stpudding. :D

Wish we lived close...I would share my starter with you.

I did buy a starter from King Arthur and it was good. But it's expensive because of shipping. I don't know if you belong to any local community fb pages but there are often people possibly even for free.

I also bought a starter at a local farmers market but it did not work out well. I make better bread with my own starter.

I sliced some Portobello mushrooms, dipped them in just egg and bread crumb, then fried them up in a pan. Delish!

@KLS52 I wish I liked mushrooms. :)
I'm going to make chickpea cutlets that I will have dinner. I also want to make a dessert of some kind, either tofu chocolate mousse or maybe zucchini-banana-chocolate chip muffins.

Made a whole wheat sandwich bread, and added 1/3 cup of the aquafaba from cooking chickpeas (Instant Pot of course). I believe it did add some 'stretch?'. Like how store bread is more foldable and homemade tends to crumb? Any way, its very good and I should have made two

@KLS52 what do you use to slice the top of your bread? My knives just drag and not make the clean cuts. That bread makes me realize I need to make a starter!

I have this...purchased it for my daughter and loved it so much I got one for myself. It's $16. A lot of people in the sourdough group have it too.

I made date and walnut balls and coated them with sesame seeds I bought today. I actually thought they were more expensive. I got 4 oz for $2.99, which is a good size bag, at the Indian grocery. Sesame is such a good source of calcium, and I worry I don't get enough
I'm gonna make an overnight wheat bread using the whey from soy yogurt
