CA Vegenaise

They call it either vegan or plant based mayo in Europe.

I've had it at a pal's in the UK as she doesn't make mayonnaise. It's far too sweet for my liking and has an artificial taste to it:

It's a whooping £3.40 per jar! Very expensive for some oil, water and sugar.

Here in Ireland I buy the Hellmans plant based mayo, but Only the garlic Aioli flavour…
It is nice to dip Artichoke leaves in…
I don’t worry too much about the cost of things like this because I don’t buy lots of other prepared foods or condiments - only organic mustard and ketchup… In France I was able to find small jars of organic Vegan mayo in the supermarket, however it wasn’t always available…
@Raven I remember the Plamil brand that you mentioned as well - they were one of the first Fully Vegan companies! I seem to remember enjoying their mayo, I haven’t seen it in years!

Yeah, I'm not a huge Hellman's fan, either, but I doctor it up a lot. It's cheaper than Vegenaise most of the time.
I do have a good immersion blender, so I don't really have an excuse not to make it. I was wondering if it would work with almond milk, but I think soy milk is creamier.

You need to use soya milk as it contains a natural emulsifier.
It’s easy peasy to make and tastes so much better compared to to shop bought ones.

I googled and the company does still exist. I haven't seen it in years either. They used to sell it in Holland &Barrett.

I was craving mayo after this discussion on here. :D I chopped up a raw carrot and dipped it in Hellman's vegan mayo for a snack before my dinner last night.

You can still get it from H&B online.

Thanks... now I want artichokes and I want to try dipping it in the garlic aïoli flavor Hellmann's. 😂

I just made less than a cup of mayo, using 1/4 cup chilled soymilk--probably could have done less
1/2 tsp ground mustard
2 tsp apple cider vinegar and/or lemon juice
1/4 to 1/2 tsp salt
I didn't measure the oil, just drizzled it in till thick, but it came just under a cup after blending

As long as the milk comes over the immersion head you should be fine

I will give this a shot. Thank you.

I think I'm going to try that too… I bought the soy milk and it's been in my cupboard for a while. Hopefully it's not expired.
