No issues with the house, thankfully. I was happy to discover that everything was as it should be.
we are back into a heat wave for the next three days - tomorrow will be the worst and it is also dentist day so I can't hide at home

Thunderstorm right now. This has been happening for the last few days.
last night at 10pm it was still 29C feeling like 41C - it has cooled slightly today only because we are completely covered in forest fire smoke from Northern Ontario - everything appears orange and visibility is limited - I can taste the smoke in my mouth even inside with the air conditioning on - it appears like we live in an apocalypse

So sorry you're having to deal with that. I couldn't believe when I went outside at 3 pm, here on the Connecticut shoreline, how bad the smoke was! We could see it as well as smell it and I felt my throat burn after only a few minutes. Must be awful for you guys.

I feel sorry for the wildlife. No hospitals, little water and babies to look after.
There have been warnings about poor air quality from the Canadian fires in my area, but I haven't felt any effects. The reports are predicting pretty sunsets, though (which doesn't strike me as a good trade-off- and anyway, it's cloudy).

No rain today and just hot though not quite as bad as it has been. Still in the low 90's which is normal for this time of year.
Same at 93F.

From Southern Connecticut Weather regarding the smoke:
"Unfortunately, no relief is on the way. Air quality is improving some as the latest plume moves through the region, but guidance is suggesting that an even worse plume arrives tomorrow, bringing more ground level smoke. This means tomorrow's air quality could very well be substantially worse.
Friday is still unclear, but I think at this point we should be prepared for Friday to be bad for smoke and air quality as well, even if tomorrow is the peak. We'll update the Friday forecast as we have more confidence in the air quality forecast."
Ugh.

yes, another two days of this, it is awful - we do have to go out and I am definitely wearing my mask outside, this time, and will take it off inside - I do feel so sorry for the birds and animals and all those without air conditioning
