I've just started making a sourdough starter about 2 weeks ago. Because it's cold weather it's taking a long time to become fully active.
I've always put off doing this because I thought it would be a pain to look after it and then after reading more about it, it seemed like in involved a lot of waste.
Something I just learned though is that you don't have to waste any at all. Sourdough starter is by itself the easiest and best pancake/crumpet mix! Just add 1/2tsp bicarbonate of soda to 250g/8oz of starter and fry!
