The Vegan Society shenanigans - AGM results, who's got your details, secrecy, missing money?, in-fighting,
Vegan Society members -
Any results to share from the Vegan Society AGM the other week? They aren't on TVS's website yet.
Stephen Walsh is the person who was given a list of every single members details according to the copy of his message on facebook. (The Constitution allows this and unless there's a Motion with 75% of people against it that's not going to change. 75% in favour is needed for anything at all to change).
Did Stephen Walsh get elected yet again? [He wanted to get a third 7-year stint on the board.]
Did the motion on the Appeals Committee go through (it affected his wife Vanessa Clarke, one of 3 permanent members of the impossible to change Appeals Committee).
Did the Complaints Process motion go through?
Has anything being said about the recent "anonymous" complaint yet or did no-one ask?
[Context: For those unaware:
TVS notified all members that it gave their name and address to a member who had requested them, but said it could not say who the person is. This person did contract a bunch of members with his own spin and bizarrely accused TVS of "bullying" him (if you've been to an AGM he chaired you'll know how ridiculous this is). And he argued to be made trustee - for the third time- and again argued that members should keep his wife and the rest of the Appeals Committee there, except he didn't mention his wife was one of only 3 appeals committee members....]
The Vegan Society has had extremely public unacceptable behaviour even published bymainstream media - problematic policies - including using the n-word in front of a Black person - and has had significant contract with the Charities Commission over "compliance" and "giving advice" about constitution (see there website), a serious investigation involving bullying, racism, including a lawyer involved and a report they didn't publish or act on that got leaked, more recently have been blanking out significant sections in minutes of meetings by using "confidentiality" to be secretive. No topic listed!
There's also been infighting made public by trustees and former trustees (see vegan4themany 2021 and plantbasednews).
Mods- ALL of this is public and goes back years, maybe decades, and has badly affected staff. CEOs change regularly, and Vegan Society keeps releasing statements about various shenanigans.]
