TV & Film The TV Room

So I decided to breach the topic of Firefly with my mother, for some unknown reason.

(spoiler'd for convo)
ME: Mom, you should watch the episode Objects in Space. That's a really good one and not boring.
HER: Is that dumb prostitute lady in it?
ME: Only a little.
HER: A little?
ME: She was actually leaving the ship at the end of the season.
HER: Does she get bludgeoned to death?
ME: Mom...
HER: I can't help but see her as friggin' Anna from V.
ME: She's not. She's the most moral character on the show, actually.
HER: The prostitute?
ME: Yeah.
HER: Okay, whatever you say.
ME: I'm serious!
HER: Is this when she's not eating rodents?

Finished up season two of Enlightened last night. It was fantastic.

A show that has gone from strength to strength since the first episode, and now must surely rank up there with Breaking Bad, The Wire and Brotherhood as one of the best, and most innovative, shows of the past 10-15 years.

It seems to have flown under a lot of peoples radars though, any other fans here?

I'm so happy about Grimm. :starshower:

I hadn't heard about it although I just read up about it and I do like Laura Dern. I might watch the first episode to see what I think.:)

Thought TV this week is focusing on 'Is it moral to eat meat' Something meat based anyway.
There have already been two on but you can watch them on the 4OD.
Mondays was a guy who said God spoke to him and told him not to eat meat.
Tuesdays was a woman who is a beef farmer and said she doesnt see the problem and meat is needed in a healthy diet.

It is on Channel 4 at 7.55pm (5 min run time) and Channel 4+1 8.55pm

Star Trek: The Original Series is now one of my favorite shows in the world. Somehow this surprises my friends.

I could never get into it myself. I tried to watch a few episodes again recently but it just didn't do it for me. I do like the occasional bit of ST though - Deep Space Nine was decent enough, and Enterprise was ok too.

*waits for Star Trek fans to throw rotten fruit and tell him that Enterprise was rubbish*

Another decent episode of The Walking Dead this week. I like that the episodes are starting to feel a bit more self-contained and are becoming properly structured.

The Americans was fantastic again this week. If it can keep it up, it's going to have one of the best first seasons in ages.

I started watching Supernatural midway into like the fourth(?) season years ago, and then stopped randomly into the next one. Today, I've decided to start from the very beginning, so I can see everything I've missed, because I remember liking what I saw.

ETA: Wait, no, it was the third season I saw.

I've heard good things about Supernatural, particularly that it gets much better as it progresses. That said, I gave season one a go last year, and found it completely unwatchable.

Can any fans here tell me if I can skip the first couple of seasons and start at season three? Or will it just make no sense to me if I do that? (I'd normally never do that, but after about 6-7 episodes of the first season I really couldn't stick it anymore)

^ I couldn't get into series 1 of Supernatural at first as I kept seeing the odd episode and I thought it was quite slow paced. I think I started watching properly at series 2. If you watched a few episodes Atiri then you must have the general gist.:) They do a helpful recap at the start of each episode anyway, usually to some rock music.:D I'm watching series 3 again at the moment as they are showing it on a Sky channel.

Deadly, I think I might pick up on season 2 so, thanks!

Taking back what I said about American Horror Story Asylum. I've just finished it. It was amazing & I really really loved it. :D
The last episode was actually very emotional.

Season 3 please.

How do I do spoilers?
