So I have this weird thing where I like to listen to audio books that I already read as regular books.
I just discovered (or maybe they just added) on Hoopla a lot of the Dresden Files novels as Dramatized Adaptions. I loved the books - read all 17, in the series. Hoopla has a lot of them in their catalog.
I recall when the Dresden Files were made into a tv show on the Sci Fi channel. I didn't watch the show for very long. I have sort of a pet peeve when a tv show based on a book wanders too far from the source material. Not all the time, for instance I had no problem with Lessons in Chemistry adding and changing some stuff. In that case I thought they did a good job.
But I had all kinds of complaints about the way they did the Dresden Files adaption. Starting with casting, tv harry wasn't tall enough, and the TV Murphy wasn't short enough, or blonde. If it was just that I probably could have lived with it. But they lost Harry's duster, replaced his staff with a hockey stick, and his blasting rod with a drum stick. I might have been ok with that because walking around in a duster with a staff might be just too weird in mid town Chicago. But then they sort of made Harry less of a wizard and more of a clever PI. They also changed a lot of the plots.
Although I noticed this time around some of the quotes in the tv show's narration come right out of the book.
Anyway I found the old TV show on the Roku Chanel which I get for free - so I started watching it again. Not sure how far I'll get this time.
