TV & Film The TV Room

Transplant is back for season 4! I thought it had just disappeared. Another good medical show about an immigrant doctor in Canada.

darn, it is not on Netflix in Canada yet which is very strange seeing as how it is filmed here, in Toronto...

so we watched Dept. Q instead, which is good with Matthew Goode, other than the Scottish accent can be challenging at times

We decided to subscribe to Disney+ and I'm watching The Simpsons at the moment.

I'm watching an old British detective series from the 1990s: Pie in the Sky, I rather like it. My friend I visited in New Jersey last week turned me on to it. I'm trying not to binge-watch it, lol, but it's hard not to. :D

Watching Fire Country in Paramount Plus. It's both good and not good lol. A few of the main characters are not great actors but the stories are fun/dramatic/exciting. I like the basic premise of the show...inmates are trained to fight fires. The romance parts are annoying. Very soap opera-ish.

I like Fire Country. I watched it when it first came on. There is a real inmate fire fighter program in California and I have always liked action shows about first responders and medical shows. It does get very soap opera-ish but those young actors are all so gorgeous. LOL

I want to like Bode but something g about him bothers me. I think Jake is actually my favorite lol.
I really like Vince and Sharon too.

Gabriela is gorgeous but she's getting on my last nerve. I also checked spoilers for next season and saw who isn't returning. 😞

I haven't looked at the spoilers for next season. The final episode was a real cliff hanger and I decided I didn't want to know. LOL

That's why I didn't say anything. I still have a few episodes left. I kind of want to skip to the end because I heard about the cliff hanger lol. But I'm not going to. 😁

The guy from Fire country was in Seal Team, if he is still in it. I haven't watched it yet, but I watched Seal Team.

I started watching Mare of Easttown again as my husband hadn't seen it as I watched it when he was at work.

I started watching Patience on PBS. It is broadcast just on Sunday nights and they are up to episode 3 and I can't wait for the next one.
It's a British Police Detective murder mystery. The main character, Patience is Neurodivergent, like autism. Seems like after years of being ignored these kind of characters are showing up everywhere. Like in Please Stand By, The Extraordinary Attouney Woo, and Atypical.

While watching Patience I saw a trailer of an older show. And it just so happens its available as a Binge Pass on Hoopla; Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. I've been reading a lot of Victorian mysteries with female detectives lately and this one is set in Melbourne Australia in the late 20s. One of the cool things about TV as opposed to reading is that the sets, locations, wardrobe and props are so interesting to watch. The writers seem to be aware of this and have the murders occur in interesting places or with different themes. I just watched an epidsode that featured rally racing as the background and I got a big kick out of seeing all the old cars.
And I watched another episode that took place in a medical college. And one of the main characters was also neurodivergent.
If any of you are a fan of Jazz or 20s women's fashion - this show is big on both.
Oh, I just realized that Miss Fisher is a contemporary of Massie Dobbs. Both having served in France during the Great War. and both inheriting a lot of money. Miss Fisher moved back to Australia while Miss Dobbs opened her detective agency in London.

I saw that season 2 of "Nine Perfect Strangers" had begun so I started watching season 1 because I didn't remember watching it. Turns out I did but I don't remember very much about it since it was 4 years ago! Quirky and weird show with some well known actors.
