It would be much easier and maybe even better to just end (slowly, gradually, and incrementally) subsidies to animal agriculture.
Of course this would result in higher prices for meat.
Carnists would call this policy non-progressive and harm the poor, but no one says you Have to eat meat.
Also corporate shills would come up with stuff like the government is coming for your hamburgers.
Getting people to eat less meat would be good for health care, the environment, and especially the animals.
In the USA, The Green New Deal had this built in. Please Vote Blue.

Since 2022, factory farms have been “roasting” birds alive in super-heated sheds with no ventilation. Why? Because it’s a cheap way to exterminate entire flocks to prevent the spread of avian influenza. It’s called ventilation shutdown plus (VSD+).
The pain, fear, and distress these birds likely experience is unimaginable. The process involves shutting down ventilation and pumping in heat, spiking temperatures to above 104°F. Death—likely from multiple organ failure—can take hours.

@FredVegrox Yes- and I think horses have it relatively good, as domestic animals are concerned. It doesn't surprise me at all when an undercover operation reveals horrible things going on in slaughterhouses or labs.

Horses are abused in numerous ways including racing, horse drawn carriages, Tennessee Walkers, and more. I am a horse lover and it sickens me what these magnificent animals are put through for human entertainment.

"Last night whilst the usual armchair heroes wasted their evening writing excessively long posts criticising us, we were alerted to a severe abuse case and were sent multiple heartbreaking LIVE videos of a dog screaming in pain, I've posted one in the comments.
The entire flat block confirmed the abuse, with regular beatings witnessed on the street and bloodcurdling screams coming from behind the flat door.
The dog, an extremely timid girl called Nala, was surrendered last night.
Big shout out to a joint collaboration between A Paws Purpose Animal Rescue Knutsford Animal Rescue Paws on Hearts animal rescue and rehoming to get this girl safe and a big thank you to the rescue who immediately took her into the vets (who wish to remain anonymous due to the trolls).
As always a big shout out to the RSPCA for being as useless as ever by attending several weeks ago just to be told to **** off by the delightful "owner".
