Further to the Obi scandal in Essex after the discovery of the remains of 37 dogs a dog rescuer has launched an online petition. There is a desperate need to strengthen the Animal Welfare Act 2006.

A man has been charged as part of an investigation which was launched after the discovery of the remains of 37 dogs at a property in Billericay. Essex Police officers worked alongside colleagues from the RSPCA and Basildon Council in response to a number of reports in relation to an address in the Crays Hill area.

Police raided the property, an animal rescue centre called Save a Paw UK, alongside the RSPCA, in the Crays Hill area on Tuesday, May 13. Two men were arrested on suspicion of fraud, relating to transfer of ownership of dogs, and animal cruelty offences.
