Health Issues The Everything Covid 19 Thread

Theres this vegan cafe in town and they do the best food. Since level 3 they have reopened offering takeaway food looks so delicious, makes me wish i lived near town... i saw the other day they had vegan sausage rolls and today they have vegan meringues....

Went out today for groceries the first time since it became level 3. considerably more cars on the road.. motorists behaving weirdly, tailgating, hooning around, speeding, and it wasnt teenagers, the behaviour was mostly coming from people in their 30s or 40s by looks of things. Maybe it was because they had been cooped up in their houses for 5 weeks and now they are running wild, crazy...

had a lovely time though as the autumn leaves are on the trees and it was very pretty... made me feel i had missed a bit of autumn...

I find the mask very uncomfortable. And the ones you buy, like surgical masks or N95’s have an odor I find irritating. I’m glad I have a few cloth ones.

I was given a mask to wear at Walmart while we go get food and it was hard to breathe, was nice taking it off.
It is sometimes hard to breathe. I wore my cloth one when I took my walk, and my face got really sweaty. I had to wash it immediately when I got home.

The cloth ones are indeed more comfortable. I had an N95 from when I painted my kitchen, and I remember it was annoying to wear.

I like surgical masks best. I made two cloth ones and a friend gave me one. I haven't needed to use them much. I don't wear them on my walks. (this morning I saw maybe 3 whole people and they were all on the other side of the street). And so far I have only had to go into 2 stores.

I don't have any new surgical masks left. but I think it's ok to reuse them. I can machine wash the cloth ones.

I have been seeing too many people on my walks to feel comfortable going without one. Half the people I saw yesterday didn't have any masks on. People were pretty accommodating regarding social distancing, though. I was surprised I saw that many, probably about 15, because it was cloudy.

From what I gleaned, if you are outside, and at least 10 feet away from people there is little purpose to wearing a mask.
I think it's only when you are indoors where there are many people, like at the grocery store, that a mask really serves its purpose - to protect others.

That may be, but I'd rather err on the side of caution and not unsuspectingly pass it on to anyone.

Pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca has today agreed to mass-produce a COVID-19 vaccine developed
by Oxford University scientists.
Human trials of the experimental jab - called ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 - started last week and the first results are expected in mid-June.

How soon before a vaccine is declared ready and we begin mandatory vaccination of the general population?

Who knows. They are really rushing this which means there are more opportunities for false starts and dead ends. I think even careful methodical work results in less than a 20% sucess rate.

I think it was the n95, it was made out of thick material and had a metal nose pinch. Made the mistake of breathing through my mouth, that made it even harder to breathe. I wanted out of the store so bad but my bfs checking aisles for a laptop fan until I say let’s just order online lol.

Blinsky potrokh!🤦‍♀️ Our prime minister Mikhail Mishustin has covid. He's had his bloodwork done, and it has shown a positive result. I watched his video call with Putin. Putin uttered a deep sigh and said some good words to Mishustin. From what i saw, i can say that he's still in good condition (*fingers crossed*), and he seems asymptomatic. But i remembered Boris Johnson at once: BJ had had mild symptoms at first, but then he got worse. Moreover, Mishustin isn't young, and he's overweight, and, based on his face's color, i can assume that he has chronic diseases... Poor Mishustin (he's done some good work already, and i think he's not the worst choice as a prime minister)... Mishustin offered Putin to establish a replacement for him, while he's in hospital (he was getting ready to go to the hospital after the call to Putin). M. offered another dude, our vice (deputy) prime minister, Andrey Belousov, to take his position temporarily. Putin said he would "sign the order". After M. announced that he had covid, Moscow's mayor, Sergey Sobyanin, said that Mishustin's illness has to become a sign and a warning for everybody, especially for those careless citizens, who rely on "mighty russian AVOS'",- he said that it can happen to anyone, and no one is safe.

I sewed a mask, tryed the folded bandana, and now I've been given the kinda I've wanted that is tailored to rise over the nose, and gives some room under it--but it's a bit narrow, so if I move my mouth it moves :hmm: . For some reason I find myself wanting to move my mouth around when I wear a mask.
Years ago I got to work in the machine shop of my company, learning tool and die set up, sandblasting, paint room -- I really liked it, but the steel toed shoes and mask were why I didn't pursue it as a career
I wonder how long before masks become readily available at stores
they've got to come up with better designs and fit if we're all asked to wear them. In Ohio they're not compulsory, but manufacturing is required (I believe) starting monday. Stores will be able to make their own call

Leading US & UK specialists say that a vaccine may be available at the end of the year i.e. if all goes well. It would take a far considerable time to vaccinate the global population.
