Who says numpty these days. Seriously, its like some twee send up of Britians in the 1920s

I say ol' chap he was rather a numpty wasnt he....indeed fine fellow...

Seriously, in America all you have to do is say something along those lines with a slight Cockney accent and everyone thinks you do great accent impersonations. It's kind-of sad, really. I do it all the time.

I went through a stage trying not to swear as much because honestly, my language is terrible. It did not last long.

It is a tame word. It's just lighthearted & not offensive. Like I could call my 10yr old brother a numpty if he was being silly.

Maybe not totally on topic, but I picked up the word eclampsia by watching Downton Abbey. I had never heard of eclampsia before.

I dont think thats a British specific term. Its a complication within pregnancy.

Alpro is a British brand of food items? Every time I read it the only thing I can think of is Alpo, which is a very cheap and poor quality brand of dog food.

Yep, they are the main brand of dairy alternatives that can be found easily in supermarkets etc. they have soya, almond & hazlenut milk for example. & soya yoghurt & flavoured puddings (the dark chocolate one is so tasty.)

Too bad the name just makes me think of low-quality dog food. (I see pictures online and just think, "ew no."
