Hello,

Would you call/accept a product made from recycled *plastic, which in turn is made from old fishing nets and ropes from the maritime industry, most of which would otherwise end up in the sea or be incinerated, as vegan?

*The plastic itself is free from animal products.

Vegan, of course. We can't just burn the plastic into the atmosphere, or dump it into our already overflowing landfills.
Okay, so you don't see a problem there. Even if fish were caught with the nets in the past?

So the fishing nets are used, so fish were caught with them.
The issue is what to do with them now, what they had been used for is of no significance whatsoever
The most animal friendly thing to do is to make sure they get recycled so no animal is hurt by them. Used netting and fishing lines harm thousands of birds, fish and mammals every day.

Are you thinking of a particular product made from fishing nets?
Fishing nets don't decompose, and I see no demand that could be caused by this way of recycling --to me it could help advertise the dangers of these nets and the need to keep our oceans and land clean.

These are some companies that do just this:
