Hello my name is Archie I am currently doing my dissertation at university I am looking when people are trying to consume products in an ethical way what matters most to them plant based products or sustainable production of the product. Within this current society we consume to many products so even if the product is made from plant based materials should we be consuming more products instead recycling the product we already have into new products. As someone who is new to vegan community I am interested to see if among non vegan and vegan consumer if you would by a product that has been made out of an animal product if that product has a less detrimental impact to the environmental as a whole or if they way to improve the environment as a whole is moving away from animal product like leather. any reply would be greatly appreciated.

A lot of nutritional supplements contain animal based ingredients, including gelatin.

I just discovered that The Vitamin Shoppe's Magnesium Oxide 400 mg daily has gelatin in it. It's also not pure Magnesium Oxide. It has other minerals in it. It's be a good idea to read the Ingredients before you buy any supplement pills/soft gels/capsules. I bought this online.

The Humane League online says: "The process of making gelatin is far from fun. Instead, it’s rife with animal suffering. After learning what gelatin is made of, you’ll likely want to leave it off your plate. The process of making gelatin begins with animals—usually cows, pigs, and fish raised on factory farms. From the moment they’re born to the day they’re brutally slaughtered, these intelligent animals’ lives are full of suffering. Whether they’re raised for meat, leather, or any other animal product, animals are transported to a slaughterhouse and killed at a young age."

In my view it’s better to buy the best quality supplements one can afford and to check the ingredients carefully…
Here in Europe there are many brands which are clearly labeled Vegan…
One of my favourite brands is Viridian, I don’t know if it’s available in the USA
