"Everyone knows that some people react to the food ingredient monosodium glutamate. What many don’t know, is that more than 40 different ingredients contain the chemical in monosodium glutamate (processed free glutamic acid) that causes these reactions.

The following list has been compiled over the last 20 years from consumer reports and information provided by manufacturers and food technologists."

I can still remember "freight training" foods high in MSG's during football games. Thanks for posting the other"hideaway" chemicals that also contain them.

I didn't know about these 'other' names until I was making a dish about 15 year ago for my very knowledgeable vegan boyfriend at the time - I was innocently and proudly making the most delicious dish using Vecon (a sort of vegetable stock). When he read the ingredients with 'hydrolyzed protein' (erm the MAIN ingredient) he went absolutely mental with me. Understandable so, since he'd gone to great lengths to totally reclaim his health.

I knew about MSG, but how sneaky!!!!!! I learned quickly!

Vecon call it hydrolysed soy & maize protein... which, way back then, made me really happy because it was vegan.

I’ve gotten sick from consuming food with MSG in it: Dizziness, headaches, nausea. I study labels constantly to avoid anything with MSG in it. Thank goodness most Asian restaurants in my area say they don’t use MSG, although I’ve read that sometimes the chefs in these places will surreptitiously add some because they believe it’s important for “flavor”.
