  1. Vegan newbie
I've been vegan for 15 days now. Today, I had a veg burger at McDonald's and another at Burger King, both of which contained a little mayo. I just read that mayo contains egg yolk. Should I tell the staff next time not to put mayo in my burger? While I don't want to hurt animals, I also don't want to be a pain in the ***.

It is really not being "a pain in the ***" to voice your preferences. I never liked mayo before I was veg and you can say to leave it off. :)

Looks like PETA has already answered my question on their website.
We discourage vegans from grilling waiters at restaurants about micro-ingredients in vegetarian foods (e.g., a tiny bit of a dairy product in the bun of a veggie burger). Doing so makes being vegan seem difficult and dogmatic to your friends and to restaurant staff, thus discouraging them from going vegan themselves (which really hurts animals).

the best veggie burger I ever had was at shake shack. but its not vegan

To order a vegan burger at Shake Shack, get the Veggie Shack and modify it by removing the American cheese, ShackSauce, and crispy fried onions, while swapping the standard potato roll for a gluten-free bun or lettuce wrap

. still the best.
