I agree @1956 and believe that it is most important to be very clear, within yourself, not only what you prefer in a spouse but what you just won't allow into your life - toxicity comes in many forms...

As you may have read in another thread I met my honey online in 2000 and the ad that I wrote was extremely specific, extremely! I was not vegan back then so that wasn't one of the criteria however, thankfully, I was specific enough with the "traits" that I was able to find someone who was thrilled to go vegan along with me and it was a decision we made together. I wish I still had a copy of the ad.

I too wish that you could put your hands on that ad, I bet that it was Very special and moving, I’d enjoy reading it I’m sure!
It doesn’t really matter though anymore because you were Blessed to find your Life partner - Wouldn’t it be Wonderful if Everyone could be as Blessed as We have been!?!

@1956 you made a good point that I didn't pick up on, in an earlier post

I was in my late thirties when I met my honey and had been married very early, had another 9 year relationship and various others along the way - it is not always the first person or even the 20th, that you meet that you can stick with. Every person along the way helps to shape us and show us what we really prefer in a spouse. I am thankful to still be friends with many of my past amours.
