I met Tom Wilson, the actor who played "Biff" in the Back To the Future film series. A former coworker married him and they invited me over to their house. He is a super nice guy, totally the opposite of the Biff character, of course. We were playing ping-pong and I nailed him in the forehead with the ball by accident. I was terrified. He did his Biff imitation for a moment like he was going to come after me, but then just laughed it off. Later he showed me his vintage lunch box collection which he keeps in a special room in their house.

I worked at a restaurant in Malibu during college and met lots of other celebrities, but I don't want to judge people based on brief encounters.

Oh wait, one more sort-of celebrity encounter but it's funny. One time I used some frequent flier miles and upgraded to a first class airplane seat. They showed us the film City Slickers. After it finished the guy sitting next to me asked me what I thought of the movie. I totally panned it and accused Billy Crystal plagiarizing ideas from Woody Allen for the story. The guys says, "I can assure you, everything in the movie was drawn from Billy's own life experiences". I asked, "Really? How do you know?" He replied, "Because I'm his agent". The rest of the flight was awkward, to say the least.

So cool! He was also the coach on Freaks & Geeks!

I met Jon Voight at Disneyland, he was the narrator of the Candlelight Processional that year, which is a big deal, so people save spots for it all day until it starts at night, and he came out and into our side of the crowd and shook hands and said hi to us and the people around us a few hours before the show began. i didn't know then that he was an ******* so it was exciting.

I've also seen Raven-Symone and Oprah at Disneyland a few years ago. Raven was filming something and Oprah waved from the train while we were in line right below it. I remember both separate days were days I'd skipped school to go to Disneyland and I came back and told everyone even though I was supposed to have been "sick". :p i've also seen other famous people at Disneyland that had plaids with them and that everyone was staring at but i'm not familiar with very many celebrities so i don't know who they were.

And my favorite was meeting Shorty and Ronald and Hercules from Pit Boss at the LA County Fair in 2010. My mom saw the light from a cigar from pretty far away and swore that it must have been him, but I thought she was crazy and we had just left that area and he wasn't there, but then we walked back and they had just arrived with a stand, and my mom and I got a picture with Shorty and Ronald and we got to pet Hercules!

Jon Voight will always remind me of this Patton Oswalt bit (NWS):

Also, I added a celebrity Twitter follower to the list.

My friend went on a couple of dates with Jay Baruchel, after her band was in a national music contest. She doesn't like introverted dudes (which apparently he is), though, so it's not going to happen. I'm fangirling so hard because I had the biggest crush ever on him when I was a teenager. I think I will have to go to a few more of her shows! :p

I know a few bands/band members... some are really good friends (some are going to perform at my wedding <3), and others I've met through these friends. Not many of them are really what I'd consider "famous" - the kinds of musicians with a cult following at best. The most famous, that I have met through friends rather than know personally, are the guys from Bowling for Soup and Zebrahead. Both of those were a little surreal, because I've been listening to those bands since my teenage years, and I really wanted to travel back in time and tell awkard teenage me that she would be hanging out with those bands in the future :D

Does my daughter count. :p She's been an extra on a lot of shows (Heros, Glee, some indies), but finally got a big enough part to get screen credit. Okay, she isn't an actual celebrity....yet.

This is her on the set with Judd Nelson.

An older picture of her on the Heroes (season 3) set.

Laurence Fishborne - jackass. Refused an autograph request from a co-worker. I told him to quip, 'Oh sorry, I thought you were Samuel Clemens, a real star.'
.

I think giving people autographs must be a pain in the arse......they did their job, provided some sort of entertainment, but people still want more.

Maybe so. But in the entertainment industry especially - it's part of the job.

Exactly.
If they are doing it simply for the love of acting, and not because they want to be famous or make millions, they can act at local community theaters or in student films. Then they won't have to worry about being recognized and bothered for autographs.

I have to live vicariously through other people because I've never met a celeb. My best friend did meet/talk to Daryl Hannah while she was using the local health club (at 6:00am) to work out. She was on location doing an indy film of some sort in the area. I had the serious hots for her circa Splash, lol.

OMG she was on Glee!? Did she meet any of the cast!?

I ordered a Stuart MacBride book and it came with his autograph in it.........it's a bit silly the way talented people end up making a little squiggle, hundreds of times on pieces of paper, like some automation. Still, I suppose it's sort of nice to have something they've personally ,made, and handled.
